If it's only gonna be the Bournemouth games (due to WC obvs) then it isn't the end of the world... but he really needs to try and sort these muscle issues out over Christmas.

Out till after World Cup then

Only an idiot didn't undersatnd that comment. He's injured already.

People who cant understand time lines cant be taken seriously.

I know I did...after he was injured.

It's not my fault you're hard of learning.

So are you saying that you know he's injured already, but you hope that his injury turns out to be so bad that he is unable to play for the rest of the season? If so, that's disgusting mate. Didn't you post something similar about Jordan Pickford a few seasons back? Or have I got that wrong?

This is not good, I am shaken to the core, I'll need to go and have a jam butty and a mug of coffee.

I think DCL catches a lot of flak that should be directed at the club.

Could we afford to rely on a striker with a history of fitness issues prior to last season? No. Could we afford financially to find an immediate-term fix to the problem, while solving all the other problems on the pitch that were a result of a long series of bad buys? No.

What we need is a time machine, and a youth buy about three years ago similar to Branthwaite who we then developed through cup games, garbage time substitutions, loans and what not.

We didn't do that, and followed a bankrupt strategy of short-term buys trying to get back to Europe right away. Instead, we needed to start investing in the future due to all the albatross contracts already hanging over our heads. In American parlance, our window was closing and we needed to tear it all down and rebuild, rather than see out the dregs of the window and accept the doldrums for a while as the price.

In no way is this DCL's fault. He's just developed into a good striker who needs service and has fitness issues. If the club doesn't address those liabilities, that's not on him. He is what he is, and we shouldn't be expecting iron durability and world-class quality for what we paid, and are paying, for him at his position.

I'm guessing he's out of both Bournemouth games, but if it's only a short term injury, then good news.

I don't know if there is much that can be done at this point. But the 6 week break gives us time to try and come up with some sort of plan on his fitness, or even just an extended rest if that is what's needed. I just don't see how we continue to use him as our first choice 9. He needs to be used sparingly and in short bursts as a sub.

In a perfect world he's 'out for the season' and we get a new striker in January (or a couple, preferably)...because we wont stay up in the PL if that new striker(s) doesn't come in.

I can only think that anyone pulling for DCL at this stage cant want this club to avoid the Championship and that their loyalties lie with a hopeless forward rather than the club itself.

Not if...as seems likely.. his availability means we dont get his replacement in January.

Absolutely. It was criminal negligence for the decision to be made by the board, Thelwell and Lampard to go into a season pinning our hopes on that feller.
