2022/23 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

We've needed a goalscorer since Richarlison left. If they still haven't realised that by now, then we have big problems.
We are doomed without a new striker coming in. There isn't enough goals from the personnel we have that will save us.

Lampard was talking out of his arse a week ago when he said we had to see more goals from wide players. Those wide players just haven;t got the quality to add more than a handful of goals in a season. They aren't Arjen Robben types.

In a perfect world he's 'out for the season' and we get a new striker in January (or a couple, preferably)...because we wont stay up in the PL if that new striker(s) doesn't come in.

I can only think that anyone pulling for Dominic Calvert-Lewin at this stage cant want this club to avoid the Championship and that their loyalties lie with a hopeless forward rather than the club itself.

Dave, it's not about me 'pulling' or having 'loyalties' for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, it's about not wanting another human being to have an injury so bad that he is sidelined for seven months or so. Anyway, It turns out that his injury is not too bad so, for me, that's good news and I wish him a full recovery. I still believe we will buy another striker during January though. Frank Lampard knows we need to bring someone in, it's just a case of convincing Farhad Moshiri to loosen the purse strings again.

I've dealt with the 'wanting him to have an injury issue'. It's not what was stated by me. And the two issues of his availability and us getting a new striker in are linked. Like it or not, they are.

It's not about Calvert-Lewin as much as it's about any player who gets in the way of the club surviving this season. We have a new stadium on the horizon and I'm telling anyone who may or may not be open to the message that if we are reliant on the goals of DCL to secure our PL status and have us in that new stadium as a top flight outfit then its isn't going to happen. The January transfer window will be absolutley crucial to our survival.

They clearly lack quality but still don't see why he shouldn't challenge them to give more to the team.

I know, you stated you wanted his injury to be bad enough to keep him out for the season. Which is what I said, so we can leave that now.

Personally, I do not believe buying another striker in January is dependent on whether Dominic Calvert-Lewin is injured or not, but more his recent injury record and the new stadium. I believe Frank Lampard will not want to pin his hopes on DCL avoiding injury and finding consistent goalscoring form once he returns, and Farhad Moshiri will not want to risk us losing our Premier League status having invested so much money in the new stadium. To me, they both know we need to buy a forward in January and will do all they can to make it happen.

He's falling into the same camp as Mina. It doesn't matter how good he can be, he can't string more than 3 games together before being side-lined again. If we gamble our premierleague future on his fitness, we will only have ourselves to blame and that's nothing against Dom but we can't rely on him.

I’ve edited my post to include the fact that Steven Naismith scored from clean through the vast majority of the time while Calvert-Lewin misses the majority.

Haaland has been brought up because some of our fans like to pretend that Dominic Calvert-Lewin is an elite striker. If that’s the case then let’s compare him to actual elite strikers in the interests of fairness and see how he gets on.

Ouch !

That is true but also depends on who is available to fill our scoring need, plus who can we get as a creative midfielder.
