We lost a winger, signed a winger and bought a new striker.Absolutely. It was criminal negligence for the decision to be made by the board, Thelwell and Lampard to go into a season pinning our hopes on that feller.

Not if...as seems likely.. his availability means we dont get his replacement in January.

We lost the player who provided the goals and assists that kept us up. That was THE fundamental movement. We lost a winger, signed a winger and bought a new striker.
We are doomed without a new striker coming in. There isn't enough goals from the personnel we have that will save us.We've needed a goalscorer since Richarlison left. If they still haven't realised that by now, then we have big problems.
In a perfect world he's 'out for the season' and we get a new striker in January (or a couple, preferably)...because we wont stay up in the PL if that new striker(s) doesn't come in.
I can only think that anyone pulling for Dominic Calvert-Lewin at this stage cant want this club to avoid the Championship and that their loyalties lie with a hopeless forward rather than the club itself.
I've dealt with the 'wanting him to have an injury issue'. It's not what was stated by me. And the two issues of his availability and us getting a new striker in are linked. Like it or not, they are.Dave, it's not about me 'pulling' or having 'loyalties' for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, it's about not wanting another human being to have an injury so bad that he is sidelined for seven months or so. Anyway, It turns out that his injury is not too bad so, for me, that's good news and I wish him a full recovery. I still believe we will buy another striker during January though. Frank Lampard knows we need to bring someone in, it's just a case of convincing Farhad Moshiri to loosen the purse strings again.

Lampard was talking out of his arse a week ago when he said we had to see more goals from wide players. Those wide players just haven;t got the quality to add more than a handful of goals in a season. They aren't Arjen Robben types.

It's not about Calvert-Lewin as much as it's about any player who gets in the way of the club surviving this season. We have a new stadium on the horizon and I'm telling anyone who may or may not be open to the message that if we are reliant on the goals of Dominic Calvert-Lewin to secure our PL status and have us in that new stadium as a top flight outfit then its isn't going to happen. The January transfer window will be absolutley crucial to our survival.
I’ve edited my post to include the fact that Steven Naismith scored from clean through the vast majority of the time while Calvert-Lewin misses the majority.
Haaland has been brought up because some of our fans like to pretend that Dominic Calvert-Lewin is an elite striker. If that’s the case then let’s compare him to actual elite strikers in the interests of fairness and see how he gets on.

We lost Richarlison for £60m with 10 goals in 30 games (2021/22) and replaced him with Maupay £10m 8 in 32 (21/22) and McNeil £20m who has got 2 in 13 this year vs Richarlison 0 in 9.I'll rephrase
We lost our best goalscorer and signed 0 goalscorers.
Absolutely shambolic recruitment
