No players have this kind of record.

I don’t think you understood what he’s saying, he’s not saying elite strikers will score 9/10 chances/shots. I don’t think what he’s saying is too far off the mark at all. Elite strikers will probably score at a better rate than 9/10 from clean through on goal, probably more like 99/100 in the case of someone like Haaland.

This doesn't make sense. How do I not understand what he is saying when you have then said that he is not too far off of the mark from the thing I am saying he said (because he literally said it!).

No player scores 9 out of 10 times or 99/100 etc when clean on goal, even the top strikers, the goalie has a job to do too. There are different ways of being "clean on goal" too. A player running one on one from the half way line is totally different to the DCL chance for example.

Would be nice if we could get a better ratio than zero out of ten of course.

Players at this club dont stand a chance.

The poor lad has had a very rough 2 years, do the fanbase support him? Do they heck, they groan at games, abuse him, wish long term injury on him and make sly digs regarding his sexuality.

Many things have changed over the years owner, managers, players, but the 1 thing has remained constant. Angry "supporters" who project their sad little lives on to the players.

Support your number 9 or dont, but dont use him to vent your anger at still living in your mums basement at 40 years old.

I just don’t agree with this at all. Top strikers most definitely score the vast, vast, vast majority of the time from clean through, Calvert Lewin scores the vast minority of the time.

Probably is a high rate even for top players like haaland etc, problem is though DCL goes.l through on goal and you just know 9 times out of ten he ISNT going to score that's the massive difference.

Even the bang average strikers in the league you'd bet on finishing the chances DCL misses on the regular.

I'm genuinely struggling to think of a worse starting striker in the league then DCL at the moment.

YES.

They will obviously score more than they miss but 9 out of 10 or 99/100 is a ridiculous unrealistic amount.

The DCL chance will be around 50/50 as you have the goalie rushing out at the attackers feet as soon as he is through. The goalie did very well.

It's not as much of an issue for other strikers as it won't be the only chance they get in a months worth of football. That's the biggest issue.

You cannot tell me that someone like Haaland scores that chance 50% of the time and expect me to take you seriously. It’s absurd. The keeper has made himself big and hoped, because that’s all he could do. The striker has about 5 different ways to score in that scenario, he’s hit it at the keeper’s legs. It’s not at all unrealistic to say top strikers score that chance 9/10. Bloody hell Steven Naismith scored them most of the time, at a better ratio than Calvert-Lewin no doubt.

It is unrealistic.

Just because you say it isn't doesn't make it so. (and vice versa to be fair).

Not really sure why we are comparing him to be the best player of a generation anyway, Haaland is a massive outlier regardless.

I’ve edited my post to include the fact that Steven Naismith scored from clean through the vast majority of the time while Calvert-Lewin misses the majority.

Haaland has been brought up because some of our fans like to pretend that DCL is an elite striker. If that’s the case then let’s compare him to actual elite strikers in the interests of fairness and see how he gets on.

I think this is true for all our players, and we're lucky Iwobi got through this to come out the other side a good player.
We have had very very inconsistent (to put it kindly) management, coaching and tactics - particularly unsettling for young developing players. Now we're finally seeing both on and off the pitch some development in our style, passion, recruitment and results - of course we're still not far off relegation, but we're showing good signs of long-term changes.

Why can't we support our players even if they're playing badly? Why can't we keep our criticism to football , tactical , 'effort on the pitch' and such issues. I hate it when we abuse ourplayers for their personality and our imagined sense of how hard they are trying and how they seem to get injured on purpose.
