2022/23 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

An injury is an injury but I do think he’s one of a long line of footballers, a number of whom are at this club, who’ve just decided they’ve got enough wealth and fame already and couldn’t really be arsed about football and will just do something else instead. Here alone we’ve got Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Davies, Dele and most likely Gordon and Gray heading that path too where they visibly can’t be arsed. Iwobi is doing the same but he’s actually the example that you can still do your best on the pitch and do your other stuff outside of it.
I genuinely think there's mad strawman arguments going on here on both sides regarding the lad. I was a huge fan of him, especially under Carlo, he's still our best forward but it must be said he's absolutely a fraction of what he was before and has now become injury prone. I couldn't care less what he does outside of football but when your main career is a footballer and you spend most of your time on the physio's table and promoting yourself as well as your fashion then of course people are gonna come after him. It works both ways for him, because he's more open to advertising himself you can hear him maybe being talked about for a place in the England squad (until he got injured) despite the fact he's only played about 20 times in the last year and a half scoring like 6 goals and others like Ings, Wilson, Abraham, Watkins and obviously Toney doing far better than him in that same period.

No one genuinely cares about his fashion or whatever, the issue comes with his job being a footballer which he's paid well that then enables him to do these things. If someone like Ronaldo wants to go on a fashion shoot or show or whatever then no one will say a thing because he's an icon, this season already we've seen Dom, Davies and Gordon all show up here and there, even to training looking like they want to get their picture out there for some attention, that's what winds people up.

They come off as some no mark footballers playing for an awful team trying to gain notoriety for being "different" instead of showcasing themselves on the pitch and then getting people clamouring for them. It's not just our fans that do it, we only see it because it's our players. People ripped the piss out of Grealish for ages, even before he went to City. Now look at him, he plays in the best team arguably in the world, playing in the CL every year and could win it this year, worth £100m, will finish his career drowned in trophies and medals and now has big brands coming to him for massive deals and all the while he actually plays and even though he's a bit overrated at least he's actually rated.

Difference between a player who thinks he's made it, like Dom, Davies and Gordon do here, versus one that actually has made it in Grealish.
What tells you that those 3 have thought they've made it though?

Gordon def deserves flak for his performances but the other 2 have never given the impression of downing tools. I also don't think it's fair to accuse players of losing focus cause they have interests outside of football — it wouldn't be okay if your boss criticised you for your hobbies or what you wear. would it?

Unless it's somone like Delph who had a go at the fans I think we need to try to keep criticism based on what our players do on the pitch (which has been crap).

Only an idiot didn't undersatnd that comment. He's injured already.

People who cant understand time lines cant be taken seriously.
You said you hoped he was out for the season, but you try to spin it any way you want.
I stand by my earlier post.
Your post and you are disgusting.
Oh and by the way if you call someone an idiot try to spell understand correctly.

I know I did...after he was injured.

It's not my fault you're hard of learning.

It is an insult to fellow human beings to say they are shaped by social media. Most of it is trash or worse. America is a shambles because so many follow a dangerous twerp like Trump and his ludicrous tweets. Twitter is garbage.
You completely contradict yourself in that paragraph.

And there is studies showing how people are influenced by social media.

So let's get this straight, you see nothing wrong with wishing a player of a team you support, a season long injury?
I take it you would prefer a career ending injury on him then, seeing as he is already injured.
I use the word support very very loosely in your case.

What I actually said was "I hope he's out for the season".

But stuff like facts seem alien to you.

Hopefully he isn't injured too long and can bounce back from it. I'm pretty sure his last couple of seasons being stop/start will be as frustrating to him as it is to the fans. Let's get behind him and hope that he can get the best treatment available if he's out for the world cup break. Piling on him isn't going to help his or our situation I reckon.
