This guy cannot be the answer - we need a first choice striker, unfortunately we can’t afford one either.
The best hope is DCL is used sparingly

Yeah, I don’t even mean it as a criticism, just a fact. I think some people are banking on him coming back and scoring 10 goals or something like that but it’s a long time now since he had that sort of run, for whatever reasons.

I have been one of Dominic's biggest fans from when I first saw him for the reserves. So I'm not a knocker of his.

However I am very concerned for him, and have been for the last 6-9 months. I dont think hes the same player, and I dont think he will ever be the same player. Its unfortunate, and I dont like being negative, but I dont see it.

He always had unusually good physical attributes, in terms of leap and speed. The technical and tactical elements of his game were always poor. If you remove the physical aspects of his game, he will be massively hit, in my opinion of course.

I’m with you on this. The injuries seem to be piling up and diminishing his best attributes.

Regarding tactical elements of his game that you think is poor Catcher, anything in particular?

Tactically I think he's fantastic. IMO he targets the weakest centre half and bullies him aerially, wins lots of free kicks this way. Makes excellent runs, gets into excellent scoring opportunities (doesn't always take them granted) and defensively we are a far superior outfit with him when he's in the side as he attacks the ball both defensively and offensively.

Apart from when he first broke into the side and he'd lay the ball off and admire his own pass, he's come on leaps and bounds and knits a lot of great play together.

A fit DCL would he fetching us 60-70m no questions asked.

I sincerely hope for our sake and his that he can just get a simple run of games together. Busy schedule coming up now so I do worry what we can get out of him. Would be nice tk get an hour against Wolves, 20 against City and then a good run out against Brighton.

I still dont think his movement is completely natural for a number 9 mate. It has improved, but I still see him as some way off where an elite forward would be.

I think Ancelotti simplified it for him, and it worked, but again it's not totally natural.

I am also not sure his link play will be that great, in the way say a Kanes will be.

There’s a really large gap between elite/Harry Kane and the poor you categorised Dom as.

£60-70m for a striker incapable of scoring simple chances… Alright mate.

The longer he’s out the more he gets built up to be a player that he just isn’t, which really doesn’t do him any favours as when he comes back he’ll be expected to completely transform our team and carry us, and he’s just nowhere near good enough to do that and never has been. It’s a tale as old as time with players we have that spend long amounts of time out injured.

Yes there is.

I dont think he is poor overall. I think aspects of his game are poor. Tactically, I think his movement and game intelligence is below par for a PL level number 9.

He has lots of abilities that are very good too, but I do worry these injuries will hamper him.
