2022/23 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

I miss the Dominic Calvert-Lewin from before Ancelotti tbh, the tap in merchant was great, but I miss the Dominic Calvert-Lewin that used to harass defenders, chase down lost causes and worked the channels. We carry too many passengers now.

I genuinely think hes limited by his fragility of injury. I dont think he can run full pace for a long period of time because he'll break down again. Whether that's physically, or a mental block.

Sturridge had it for the other lot. Extremely talented but was a ALOT of talk at the time that most of them were in his head.

Thought he was alright today tbh.
Put himself about, pressed from the front. Made some good runs where Grey could have helped him out rather go for glory.
Looked like he needed help though, we should have gone 2 up front.

Just feel like there’s something they’re not telling us about his injuries. Every time Lampard talks about him it’s “we’re managing him at the moment” - it makes it sound like there is some chronic ongoing problem that is just always going to be there. Never seems to be “yeah, he’s totally recovered now, he’s 100%”. Looks a shadow the the physical presence that he was - timid as a mouse these days.

I think you are probably right but he can't be totally honest as that will take away from his value.

He is next to useless as a lone striker and although he hit the bar today he was otherwise awful. The centre backs had no problems beating him to nearly every high ball punted in his direction.

He hasn't played "great" since the first dozen games of the covid season.

It's been 2 full years since he resembled a decent premier League striker

Every single player on that list would start over this version of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, so again you tell me how he isn't the worst starting striker in the league?
7th season at the club, other than a very good spell during the Ancelotti era he's never scored double figures before or since and averages a goal aprox every 4 games. A bang average player, some people are convinced is a "top class striker", and doesn't even look half as interested as he did years ago.

We'll probably give him a new 5 year deal soon, just in time for his next injury lay off.

Danny Welback scored today for Brighton. if we had of signed him most fans on here would go ballistic, He could have done more today but he is defo playing within himself due to his injury problems. If you couple that with poor service you could peak Duncan upfront today and he wouldn’t have got much of a sniff. It’s not all on Dominic. He maybe our only hope ironically and he could come good if we get better service in the box.
