Most overrated player in our entire squad. Had a look at our results with him and without him this season. Hes been out for 13 matches total. W3 D4 L6. 13 points. PPG without DCL 1.0.

Hes been available for 11 matches. W2 D2 L7. 8 points. 0.72 PPG.

Our team is really, really poor both with and without DCL. The thought that we are reliant on him returning and being available seems to be a big myth.

It's not helpful for the fans, which may actually help facilitate additional pressure behind the scenes based on the conjecture. However, maybe there is a reason.

I have a sense they're aiming to protect Dom and allow him to finally return without this overarching fear that he'll be in the injury time within a short period of time.

It's of course all hypothetical, yet the likely options are is that a date hasn't been set because they're aiming to bring him back to full fitness - not rushing him.

We know how this has panned out in the past when he's been rushed back for a certain fixture, carrying a niggle/injury or not being able to full recuperate.

Not setting a date may mean they can work at a more realistic pace without a set deadline; it may take a while, or he may surprise us all and come back sooner.

Fewer expectations and more flexibility could help his recovery. Or, based on previous comments he's made, it could be an issue with his mental health.

In this situation, setting a date is the very worst thing you can do, as it's not something you can predict - you need to work with the person and it may take time.

Furthermore, it might be a combination of the two: the injury isn't healing as he may desire, which is putting additional emotional strain on him. Alas, cyclical!

Many years ago, I suffered a relatively serious injury and while the body was healing, the emotional strain on me (usually a resolute person) did take a toll.

Anyway, it's all conjecture... we've just got to hope and pray that he returns sooner rather than late, but importantly when he's fit enough to do so.
I think the clubs messaging has been poor. It was initially that he had only been subbed against Arsenal as a precaution.

He needs to take as long as he needs but the club need to manage expectations properly as well, especially since we are so desperate for points and positive news.

Didn't the club say they were gonna carry out a lifestyle check on him, things like his car seat, sofa, sleeping position etc, etc ??

I know Emma mattresses are doing deals at the minute !!!

Never so anxious of depressed it stops him from going out modeling or galavanting around in his flamboyant clothes. Mental health issues gimme a break. Try working a normal job for a normal wage lad.
This is the kind of attitude we don’t need, really doesn’t matter if your a shop worker, office worker or a sportsman you can still get struck by mental health issues as it doesn’t give a damn about your wealth or status

Yeah cos watching Maupay every week is a real joy.

To the posters who state his influence his overhyped, even when he is not producing goals he creates a focal point that occurs when you have a legit striker leading the line and brings about a more cohesive structure to our play which I feel improves as a team. We should have other players who we can fulfill that role and also it creates further undeserved expectations on him who yes before Carlo wasn't the most prolific striker but even then he exhibited solid hold up play that managers thought justified in his inclusion even when he wasn't scoring believed he was crucial to our play. At his worst hes a midtable striker but when you orchestrate the way we play based on his presence it's going to have an impact on our already limited attacking game. Once again this is due to mismanagement not on him.
