He's not the answer. He may be marginally better than what we've got but, apart from under Carlo, he wasn't prolific. Even if he miraculously became fit for the remaining games he wouldn't score enough to keep us up. We'd need the rest of the players to discover 'shootong boots' they show no sign of possessing. Plus, he's not the type of player who the ball sticks to allowing him to bring others into the attack. More often the not the ball bounces two yards off him or he heads it on to their goalkeeper. The fact that we are relying on this mid to lower championship level player, shows how far we have fallen!

From taken off as a precaution, to touch and go, to completely ruled out and now no timescale. I don't think that can just be a tight hamstring
It’s really bizarre isn’t it? And all the mixed communication is just leaving the door open for all sorts of unhelpful but understandable speculation about what the actual problem is.

It's not helpful for the fans, which may actually help facilitate additional pressure behind the scenes based on the conjecture. However, maybe there is a reason.

I have a sense they're aiming to protect Dom and allow him to finally return without this overarching fear that he'll be in the injury time within a short period of time.

It's of course all hypothetical, yet the likely options are is that a date hasn't been set because they're aiming to bring him back to full fitness - not rushing him.

We know how this has panned out in the past when he's been rushed back for a certain fixture, carrying a niggle/injury or not being able to full recuperate.

Not setting a date may mean they can work at a more realistic pace without a set deadline; it may take a while, or he may surprise us all and come back sooner.

Fewer expectations and more flexibility could help his recovery. Or, based on previous comments he's made, it could be an issue with his mental health.

In this situation, setting a date is the very worst thing you can do, as it's not something you can predict - you need to work with the person and it may take time.

Furthermore, it might be a combination of the two: the injury isn't healing as he may desire, which is putting additional emotional strain on him. Alas, cyclical!

Many years ago, I suffered a relatively serious injury and while the body was healing, the emotional strain on me (usually a resolute person) did take a toll.

Anyway, it's all conjecture... we've just got to hope and pray that he returns sooner rather than late, but importantly when he's fit enough to do so.

Whatever it is he’s suffering from he’s not an Everton player going forward. If we go down he’s not someone we can rely on and the same for if we miraculously stay up. It’s a cut throat business football and he needs binning.
Agree blame the club for not getting anyone in but i am same as you dont want to get angry with him but this team needed him fit is clear his time is over here. Need to sell

The ambiguity surrounding this injury just seems off, and feeds the loons who want to castigate the lad, even though we have been told that playing whilst injured for tapastits, ignoring medical advice. It’s also not his fault this clueless owner, chairman, board and DoF didn’t sign another forward in January

Whatever it is that’s wrong with him. I hope he recovers fully and comes back better for himself and us.
