Absolutely agree that his best form has come when he just plonked his arse on the box and got on the end of things, but we had players to allow him to do that under Carlo, now we haven't, same as last season so he's had to alter his game which means more effort.

I don't expect him to be sprinting around the pitch like a madman for 90 mins, but you can't tell me in some of the games over the last 2 years hes left it all on the pitch, he absolutely hasn't, he's jogged around, not closed down, not ran for balls, half arsed jumped for headers etc etc.

Re his mental health, it might have an affect no one's knows but him, however he's had games ie the palace game where his was excellent his mental health wasn't questioned then, it's only questioned when he's poor? Works two ways doesn't it.

Yeah of course, .we also do not have the players who can make the most of that kind of play, and then I've also said many times that even if players are short of skill, experience and form, the least they can do is put in maximum effort in basics. I just think that the 'high press' is more sophisticated than running players down, and if you don't have 2-3 team mates doing the same thing, it all just comes to nothing.
Anyway, here's hoping for better physical and mental health and a fully fit player soon.

So you're suggesting those with mental health issues should have their pay cut?

Interesting.
You’re a Nob no I’m not I’m suggesting that the average Joe who struggles to live day to day on normal wages have their pay cut, but in this instance if he’s physically fit to play and isn’t playing through mental health then he should take time off whether that’s a year 6 months on reduced pay do we even know if he is having mental health issues?

How does Everton paying his wages at full or less affect you though? Or affect us this season? Strange stance to take.

I disagree, not match fit or not whenever your on the pitch you put in 110% until you physically can't. I've played footy all my life and that's how I've always gone about it.

Injuries hamper people at times, and no doubt at times he's been carrying this, but overall I could count on one hand times hes put a propa shift in over the last 2 seasons

One of the many reasons regardless of your skill level you'd never have made it as a pro.

Nothing as stupid as doing more damage to an existing issue through sheer ignorance and arrogance.

Stuff like this absolutely baffles me.

Because when I pay to go and watch home and away every week I’d much rather watch him up top than maupay or a youth player who’s not good enough or ready for premier league. And if he’s physically fit I want to see him on the pitch

What a load of dog muck

If your fit enough to start a game your fit enough to put the required effort in, if your NOT fit enough to put the required effort in, then don't start, it's really that simple.

The position we are in, we require all 11 players to be on it, not carrying passengers.

I think a big problem here is the silence.
If the club released some sort of statement with what is actually going on then I think we may surprise people and give the lad a lot of sympathy.
The silence isn’t helping anyone.
Problem is, if it is poor mental health then telling the world and his dog might well make things worse for the lad.

A vast majority of people now have a far better understanding of mental health issues (thank god) but believe it or not there is still a stigma attached to it in some circles. Suffering with symptoms (of which there can be a huge and different amount) often leaves you shying away from your normal life, you can withdraw into yourself and feel you have let yourself snd the people closest to you down. When that happens you really don’t need people knowing as that can really impact how you feel.

God knows what that would be like for someone famous where the level of interest and opinions would be massive.

If it’s severe mental health issues then the best thing the club can do is support him, don’t divulge information to the public and take the advice from the experts.

Hopefully he can recover fully, get back to being himself and then if he wishes talk about it then, because then, when people suffering the same issues hear that no matter who you are it can happen but you can also get through it.

I think you're missing the point where players don't pick themselves you dafty.

Every week players who aren't 100% fit are picked to play, to give what they can, which a lot of the time is way below their best. Such has been the case with Calvert-Lewin throughout this season and last.

They don't no, but it's the players responsibility to tell the management of they can or can not do what's expected of them.

Again your right players play all the time when not 100%, because well how are you going to get match fit without playing matches? However there has been times when he has been in the squad for say 6 weeks and still not putting enough effort in, that's not down to match fitness or whatever that's just down to not putting enough effort in.

I disagree about the effort. I don't think it's a lack of effort from him, instead injuries have taken away that yard of pace and spring that got him beyond defenders previously.

I think it's both, not that you should or will but if you where to watch back over some of the games, this season in particular ( Brighton springs to mind the most ) I just cannot accept that's a player putting much effort in.

Hopefully sorts himself out both mentally and physically and comes back to help us stay up anyway.
