2022/23 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Is it? He played every game for two or three seasons or something like that, then was hurried back over and over before he was fully healed - which will lead to more problems down the line. Its not strange at all, far from it.
Not a single manager has questioned his dedication to playing football, quite the contrary actually, they all say hes chomping at the bits to get back to playing regularly. In other words, him not being commited is a fan theory, most likely stemming from(imho) dudes being uncomfortable with his modeling of skirts etc.
Being unconfortable with it is fine, lashing out towards Dominic Calvert-Lewin and calling him all kinds of nasty bs is not. I think its a bit odd myself, but i also find it dead weird when people enjoy listening to U2 or like watching cricket. Doesnt make liking u2, cricket or wearing skirts wrong, or something i should crap on people for. We’re all different, and thats a good thing. Im ok wearing jeans, listening to Sabbath and watching football, what others choose to do is so beyond irrelevant(as long as noones hurt by it ofc) its absurd.

Not claiming you think or mean any of what i wrote here @NilSatisOptimum, just my thoughts on the matter. :)

I don’t think spending your nights in clubs is equal to standing for a few photos on your days off now is it.
Think the fact Dyche is now looking at outside his football activities tells me they suspect the cause of injuries is not football related. Been myself a big supporter of the lad long before The Don came in and managed him. Something is amiss.

I think it's both, not that you should or will but if you where to watch back over some of the games, this season in particular ( Brighton springs to mind the most ) I just cannot accept that's a player putting much effort in.

Hopefully sorts himself out both mentally and physically and comes back to help us stay up anyway.

The Brighton game was his second in 3 days, he hadn't played in almost 2 months before them. Not that any of the team put in a particularly notable effort that day either mind.

He should of never been put in this position. He's not a natural striker like Lukaku, he really needs to be playing with someone else who knows how to score. He's a overrated striker, we wouldn't care if we'd bothered to bring in another striker.

If we have to sell to buy due to FFP, lack of cash, or whatever then we need to sell him if that then enables us to get a decent replacement.

I suspect the club gambled last summer and hoped DCL would be able to contribute for the majority of this season. They rolled the dice but lost and we cannot afford to make the same mistake again!

Consequently, we now cannot afford to carry dead weight for an unknown amount of time with no future guarantees of a positive outcome. Even if we did get him on the pitch for a period then this could easily re-occur and we are back to square one.

I blame the board, not DCL, but we need a striker capable of representing Everton FC in terms of effectiveness. Consistently being available for selection is the minimum requirement for this!

Really? He’s made 12 appearances (started 9) and apart from his goal at home to Crystal Palace and almost getting on the end of a couple of things v Arsenal, he hasn’t done anything at all.

I said he's looked sharp in response to this;

"instead injuries have taken away that yard of pace and spring that got him beyond defenders previously."

I've not looked at hm this season and thought he looks on his arse/lost pace. His game looked the same as always, just without Digne, Sigurdsson, Walcott, Rodriguez or any half capable creative player providing anything.

The club will make out like they've been so unlucky with this, but the reality is that he cost relative buttons and has already exceeded expectations by becoming a decent PL-level player.

Most of what was spent in the summer should have gone on a single quality forward.

I'm tired so may not word this very well but just wanted to say that your mind/mental health can 'break' (for lack of a better word). Same way a bone or a muscle can 'break'. You wouldn't play football with a broken leg...

If Dom's situation is mental health related then the priority absolutely is to get him right. Playing football is secondary.

He's an average to slightly below average striker which makes him infinitely better than what we have. We are desperate for him to come back because it's basically the only way we're staying up.

Hope he doesn't read these things because I've been through mental issues and a lot of the comments here show just how people haven't experienced it. I get the silence from the club if it is. It's [Poor language removed] you have to work through literally alone. Doesn't matter if you go speak with anyone or you have great support, it's literally you vs you.

Think he's looked really sharp in the very few glimpses we've had of him this season

That goal against Palace was quality - not a classic No 9 smashing header from inside the six yard box (not that there's anything wrong with that) but a strike that showed guile, patience, accuracy- supposedly the things he doesn't have in his locker.

Come on Dom, get well soon.

This is the kind of attitude we don’t need, really doesn’t matter if your a shop worker, office worker or a sportsman you can still get struck by mental health issues as it doesn’t give a damn about your wealth or status
This 100 percent. However being a PL footballer would enable him to receive better treatment than the ordinary working man or woman. That's not me having a go at anybody suffering with any issues regarding their mental health. As a father of a daughter who has had her fair share of problems I can tell you, unlike Goodison, their relative treatment would not a level playing field.

He wont, I hope, ive worked on a few events that Chris Kirkland has been part of, he had some real mental health issues and now works with teenagers, school kids on dealing with mental health, one of the main things he talks about is not going on social media at all at certain times as the slightest thing can send you over the edge. Even when you are feeling good the slightest remark can totally change that like the flick of a switch.
Aside from that, a lot of high profile sport people dont always run there own accounts, like bands, dont forget most of them are about sponsorship...etc and hits, i wouldnt be suprised if DCL hasnt got a image agent

I agree I think he’s been mostly poor when he’s played. And he has missed quite a few big chances against Leicester, Fulham and Arsenal so the age old service argument doesn’t really hold up either.
