Not needed.

Move on.
I don’t entirely agree with that. He was the type of player we needed the last half an hour yesterday. The ball wasn’t sticking with Gray and that’s not a Criticism of him. He worked hard but I think DCL would have been give us took some pressure of the midfield had he been available.

Yes, that's the theory. But look at what happened on a couple of occasions when we took our forward off at 1-0 up - we got a willing Maupay to busy himself getting behind the ball and snapping at the attacking opposition and we got the points.

Is it really the best tactics to send on a like for like player when youlre protecting a slender lead?

Dom on for Gray? Like for like????

He will only play if he trains well as clearly dyche only plays players that put in a big shift during the week in training. Could be a while before he is even part of the squad.

Dyche said after the match that he’s been rushed back in the past when returning from injury and he won’t be doing the same. We’ve already seen him give Patterson and Garner games with the U21s before he’ll include them.

Personally I’m glad this approach is being taken. In terms of first team players it been a better season for injuries. Patterson and Calvert Lewin have been out long term but we’ve so far avoided all these silly soft tissue injuries that players seemed to pick up on a weekly basis for us in previous seasons.

The core of the team Tarkowski Coady Mykolenko Onana Gueye Doucoure Iwobi Gray have stayed fit for most games giving us some continuity in selection.

Hopefully Dyche and Thelwell between them might have finally got a handle on the shambolic state of our conditioning which just ruined previous seasons.

Calvert Lewin Patterson and Garner back for the Spurs game would be a great boost to the squad and give us more options off the bench.

He's a distraction.

I'd gladly take any news that we've seen the last of him so our players can focus on the task in hand.
I don’t see any evidence of our players waiting for him to come back as some kind of saviour, they’re all very focused on the task at hand which would surely be at least a little easier if Dom could play too as he’s a better striker than Gray, Maupay or Simms. Nobody that matters is distracted, we just took four points from Forest away who never seem to lose at home and Brentford on something like a 12 game unbeaten run.

I don't think the players see him as some kind of saviour, it's half the fan base who -with every passing week we have little/weak options upfront- think of him as some sort of Haaland who will fire in a dozen goals as we sail up the table.

In reality, we're talking about a guy who has got 6 goals since the start of last season and misses a lot of chances too, but would still be a better option in the squad than not at present.

If he's on the pitch you wonder if the other players start to think he does the job of getting a goal rather than carrying on committing to attack themselves.

I think that's a possibility, and as such it threatens us.

Send him on gardening leave...although he'll probably get caught in some nettles and end up in the treatment room for 6 months.
