the worrying thing about the loan rumour is that it’s a bit bizarre so it make you wonder where it’s come from
it could be the case that insiders at the club have unfortunately decided he is unlikely to stay fit and meet the demands of the premier league
instead of letting his contract run and his wages and potential fee affect our finances. it may be that the club would consider a loan offer from a club in a les physically demanding league.
there would be a fee, it would be nominal but these days can be up to £10 mil depending on value of player. I’m sure Mbappe was originally loaned for a much higher fee though that is of course an outlier. But loan fees definitely have increased in relation to the inflated transfer fees and value of players in the last decade.
i hope it’s not true but the club, and DCL, could see this as the best option. freed up wages and position (a top striker is more likely to join knowing they would have a starting role, than playing second fiddle when DCL fit, or facing more competition for a place)
It could also be the only way for us to recoup some money through both the loan fee and saved wages, and through a potential transfer if the loan is successful that they wouldn’t take a chance on without testing him for a year
