….if he returns to full fitness it’ll be a major boost but we can’t take that risk. We need an effective striker and Maupay isn’t going to fill that void.

i‘d be content if we buy a central striker and a more potent winger in January.
We simply have to, we have no choice but to bring someone in otherwise we will really struggle. As much as we are a bit tighter at the back this season its clearly come at a massive cost and we just have nothing going forward now. We don't create from midfield and our forwards/wingers are not a threat as they have no end product. Lets hope Thelwell is on to it already.

I’d say he had a good second half of that season and a good first half to the next but other than that, very average.
Well said. How and why so many people talk about him like a top class striker is baffling. 25 years old and has only gotten into goal scoring double figures twice, and that was a couple of seasons ago.

Play to his strengths and he's a decent striker. Good in the air, no doubt. Better than Rondon and Maupay, but he's nowhere near the level of elite strikers who you can bank on getting towards 30 goals a year. Mid-level striker with some good attributes, nothing more.

Just for comparison here is your “world class” forwards stats from the same season.

Goal conversion, 16%. Wow he isn't even average
