Watkins is actually more of a wide player really, hence he hasn't replicated his Brentford form as Villa had him playing as more of a striker. Can play there but it's not his best position.
Who would you take as Englands attacking options:

Hardly a stellar support cast really.

It's really not too far fetched to suggest that DCL is at least in with a shout of going to the World Cup. Why?
I) Is already capped at youth and adult level (and scored at both);
II) When he has played and has been fit, he has a competitive goals to game ratio in a top European league;
III) Offers something different to most other strikers by virtue of the fact that he offers both a threat in behind and in the air, whereas most of his competitors do one or the other. Also has the basic poachers instinct;
IV) Everton have a kind run into the world cup which, if he stays fit for it, could give him the opportunity to get some goals, get some form, and take that with him.
Those dismissing the conversation altogether need a reality check. England are really not as blessed with options as people probably think
Personally on balance I probably wouldn't take him due to fitness concerns but if he bags in the next few weeks then would be a close call. Toney I think is a bully that suits a long ball game but is too pedestrian for international football. Abraham is out of form. Bamford is pony. Wilson and Rashford are both in the running I reckon.

I don't think the world cup shouts are completely insane, however, maybe premature. Not sure the exact date the squad needs to be confirmed but I doubt he has enough games to put himself at the top of the Kane backup list.
If we are looking at two games and let's say he scores in both and/or generally impresses, then it wouldn't totally surprise me for Southgate to take him as he has been in a few squads and Southgate is a loyal person to players who have done well for him (although Calvert-Lewin is not one of the players like Pickford who has shone on a very consistent basis).

I agree with this. While I understand why Dom would want to go, selfishly, I'd much rather he stayed here to fully regain his fitness and reduce risk of injury.
The less number of our players who go, the better. This is going to be a long season for some teams, so a time to rest, train and play some friendlies will benefit us.
