with this minor injury, if fit after today. i doubt he will play in the 2 games in a few days v Newcastle & Chelsea

Shouldn't have been anyway. Dyche's management of him hasn't been great, he's played him in games he should have been rested and vice versa. Beto should be taking some of the load to give DCL the best chance of playing in more games this season.

Dom should be a 70 minute player to save on the wear and tear. At least until be proves he can do that without issue.

I think that’s a little unfair…..Dyche has got more games out of Dom than the last two managers. Plenty of people on here were writing his footballing career off. I am satisfied with the amount of games he has played given those predictions.

Him not playing is part of the management? It sounds like its a very minor niggle and i guess its more about rest so he can play in the much tougher fixtures we have coming up. If hes not back on Thursday i will be suprised.

I think it's been great tbh
Our two previous managers played him when they clearly shouldn't have which set him back a lot.
Dyche has been very careful even when survival hung in the balance last season
Of all the things Dyche has done, managing Dom is one of his best imo

Awful shout.

All Dyche has done has waited for him to get to full fitness and then started him ever since. I don't know why he started Dom away to Villa instead of holding back for the more winnable games against Wolves and Sheffield United, ok it was an unlucky injury there to miss the next games, but the consequences were we got 1 point in 9.

Btw by saying his management of DCL hasn't been great I'm not implying it's been terrible - just middle of the road.

Yeah he shouldn't be pushed to play when tight and I back Dyche for doing that, however DCL could have played at least 90 minutes less this season, probably more if he backed Beto to start in the cup against Burnley and had Dom ready to come on later in the game if necessary. Seeing he is integral to the way we play I want him to be spread across as many games as possible. We don't know if he is fully over his problems or if he will breakdown long term again. It is to try and combat against this I would like to see him used in a better way, starting 3 games in week is not my idea of doing this and although that was a month ago has the accumulation of that and the two games since contributed to his tightness now? Dyche has to trust the squad more even when he is fully fit.

Agree. Read somewhere that Dyche even took time to see how DCL sat when driving a car (or more likely, got an expert in posture management to do so).

My fear is these “minor niggles“ of DCL’s turn out to take weeks to resolve and it was painful watching Beto yesterday

Disagree, I think DCLs management has been far better by Dyche and the medical team as well as brave….it would have been easy to throw him in earlier and ignore those niggles given the 10 point deduction but he didn’t. He has given DCL time.

With the added bonus that Beto would be more bedded in to the PL way of playing.

Again I didn't compare Dyche to previous managers. Of course he's done better than them BUT if this turns out to be something worse or he declares himself fit for Newcastle, Chelsea and the few games in quick succession around Christmas then Dyche's modus operandi is to start Dom even if there are lots of games in a short time frame. Which is a big risk imho. I want to see preventative action to say 'although you are fully fit and you are my no.1, this game you are starting and we'll pull you after 70, the next game we'll look to bring you on later in the game to give you 35-40 mins'.

That shows a bit more trust for the other strikers that the manager has faith in them and puts less pressure on Dom, which he seemed to do well earlier when it looked like Beto could even be the main man. When he did come on to the pitch he looked hungry and had something to prove and it showed in goals. As @mahermi1 said it also helps the other guys bed in by getting that game time.

I thought DCL had been largely ineffective lately, certainly hasn't troubled the opposition keeper much. Given Beto's showing yesterday we were lucky to get away with a win but I can't see that the result or performance would have been improved by DCL playing.

What are you on about???

"All he has done" is managed him back to full fitness, which actually drew a lot of frustration and criticism from the fanbase at the time, and then played him, our best striker, when he's been fully fit???

Sounds terrible that yeah...
