2023/24 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Maybe, but far too many games this season we have dominated but fluffed our lines and dropped points as a result of it.

We have a lot of hard workers in the team but lack that lethal finisher of the Yak/Romelu make.

Add that to the team and you have an outsider for europe (imho).
I roasted Calvert Lewin in the match thread after that miss but I don't think there's a massive difference between him and Toney, truth be told. And Toney is going to cost whoever he ends up at some stupid money. If we had money to invest in the squad (ha!) I would rather it be spent on other forward player with a bit of composure - a right winger and no. 10.

Its ultimately a damning indictment that his entire time at the club as our focal point has been with us in midtable/bottom half.

Seems a nice boy and his all round play is good but the lad couldn't finish his dinner.

Stick a Lukaku or Toney in this Dyche side and we would be top 8-9 with the chances we create.
Welllll....to be fair we are 10th. At least if it werent for some thing that I cant put my finger on...

Missed two chances but what he brought to the performance was immense. Ran Schar and Lascelles ragged. They'll know they played against a top centre forward this morning, they couldn't live with him. Lascelles looked forlorn when he was brought off. As a number 9 myself he does what you want from a number 9 in spades. He's mobile, a threat in behind and to feet, immense hold up play mixed with great movement, works the entire backline, and has a bit of an edge to him aswell. His 'match fitness' is staring to return. And that's not just lasting 80 minutes - It's also about your timing, altering your decision making to suit the personnel around you, and how you read the game. When I watch a number 9 a key indicator is how often they read the transition or break down in play, how often are they first on the scene when the ball is hacked clear? Several times last night we aimlessly got rid down the flanks or headed out from a cross, and Dom was already there. Think he deserves to take some of the credit for all three goals, Newcastle were completely panicked by him.
