Talented all round striker that will always get and create goals.

Good finisher and always has been.

Rightly hyped by our fans who actually understand football and is generally only criticised by INCELs and kopites.

I can see many teams in the PL that he would clearly start for week in week out.
hahah exactly my point.

Good finisher!!! come off it, this is the worst part of his game.

You don't know what I think of him so you can't tell me to look more objectively. I have a very fair view on him. He's not perfect but he's nowhere near as bad as the likes of you make out and he's so important to how we play. He doesn't miss plenty because he doesn't get plenty of chances created for him.

Almost two seasons without him coincided with nearly getting relegated and that's no coincidence.

Oh and we ain't getting no one better than him any time soon so suck it up and get behind the lad.
2 season without bringing in a decent striker coincided with nearly getting relegated. That was our downfall. He might be inportant to how we play but that doesn't change the fact he is a poor finisher.

The likes of you accept that he is the level we should be accepting.

So we agree failure to replace DCL led to our downfall.

Thank you for backing up my point.

Needs to score more of the chances he does get tho. Can talk about all the other stuff he does but he needs a better return on the chances he has. His main job in the squad is to score goals and I’d expect that regardless of the other work any number 9 does.

I see Everton have opened discussions with DCL representatives about a new contract, I hope we don`t give him stupid wages because he isn`t the long term solution to take us to the next level, not a natural finisher at all. Scores one in every 10 or so chances, some of the sitters we`ve seen him miss this season is very very poor by Premier League standards.

FWIW I don`t think Beto is the long term solution either, the ideal would be someone like a Watkins or Toney, I know we wouldn`t get them but players that can finish chances, we make a lot of them, more than most so there shouldn`t be many excuses to not scoring.

Should give him a lower wage plus a big goal bonus. Might improve his finishing.

It's tough bargaining position to be in, do we let him run down his contract, leave and have to realistically spend £25m at best to replace. Over a 5 year contract thats £100k a week.
The player has all the power.

He's not good enough to be a 15-20 goal a season striker, that is beyond any doubt and that's if he remains fit, which is also a big if.

Zero doubt about his work rate, his application, or indeed his general hold up play. But he is simply not a natural finisher, hasn't been for years and I don't see why that will change anytime soon.

Unfortunately however we are in no position in a club, currently, to be actively wanting to move him on. He seems to be a confidence player so just hope we can get another run from him asap.
