nah, doesnt wash.

Newcastle are the richest club in world football and have just been in the champions league. They'd also improve his wages and are in a much better position to win trophies then we are.

I hate to say it but Newcastle are a big upgrade to us atm.

Theres no reason not to go apart from wage demands
Have you been to Newcastle?

Because I have, loads.

If it’s a choice between there and hoping for somewhere better, I’d hope for somewhere better.

He could simple want to play in London/abroad The terms of the contract could have been based upon things he was not happy with, there was loads of psr stuff we won’t ever know about

It’s much more nuanced than you can grasp it seems

“Oh, it can only be money…”

Like most cities, has its rough parts and its nice parts. Footballers tend to live in the nice parts.

My view is it may just be about money - but there’s plenty of scope for it to be anything from guaranteed playing time to Newcastle being a bit depressing.

For anyone to scream with certainty that it’s greed only speaks to their preconceptions I think.

Yes, i have.

Ive also been to London and its a absolute dive but like every place on this planet its alot nicer when you can afford the best stuff there.

As well as the fact you dont have to live there just because you play there. Benitez used to get a train from the wirral to Newcastle when he was their manager.

Oh I’m sure a 200 mile commute would sell it.

You don’t have to sell Newcastle to me. I don’t like the place, I’m sure plenty love it.

But it’s entirely understandable to me that a player might not fancy it.

Psr in a players contract? What you on about?

Theres only one thing that stops a player of DCL quality moving to another club thats in a better position and thats money.

Players at his level would go and play in the pits every week if the money was right.

Players at mbappes level can sit there and pick and choose but DCL level dont.

That’s shorthand, though.

If a club says “we want to sell you to Newcastle,” and the player says “no thanks,” then that’s a “failure to agree terms,” in football journalism rote phraseology.
Wouldn’t it just say the player isn’t interested in the move , I’ve read that plenty of times when it comes to joining us

Again, guesswork

Plenty of players travel just like plenty of working class people do.

Your making out that just because a player signings for Newcastle their then locked inside the city and only allowed out for away games.

It depends on how much they’ve heard and from what side.

If it’s from Newcastle’s side, it seems unlikely they’d want to say “they don’t want to come to Newcastle.”

That’s kind of a damaging narrative they’d want to tack away from for the sake of future deals.

The North West - and even moreso London - is setup for wealthy people wanting to spend money.

The North East not so much.

Well if it isn’t about money than hopefully he comes out and says so
