Lol
It’s still all guess work! Newcastle would not pay what we wanted according to the press

He is not crocked

You have no idea what is going - none of us do - he’s on holiday.

He may leave, he may stay - let’s wait and see before getting pitchforks and jungle drums out

It was reported by the athletic, so no it isnt all guess work.

Also can you not use the terms "jungle drums" please

So let me get this straight , DCL gets commended for potentially running his contract down . " brilliant business "
" hes courageous" .

One thing is for sure he's got a lot of fans fooled , if any other player was to do this , he's labelled " judas" for the next 25 years . Crazy.
If anyone is using that sort of term for possibly running down his contract then It’s a bit odd, but I’m not sure it’s quite as black and white having fans fooled with what’s really going on.
If he’s told to club he’s not going to sign a new contract the club can always flog him (but apparently not for £37m if that figure has any substance). If he’s being touted around for an unrealistic value, that’s on the club not him.

He may be perfectly happy to stay if we meet his wage requirements. He's certainly suggested as much when he said he wanted to beat Cahills EPL goals record for us towards the end of the season.
If however he’s made it clear he wants out, I’d have expected some media coverage via the club to that effect and he would certainly get a negative reaction from the fans, he would also be taking a very serious risk of being benched for the next 12m which would harm his chances of getting the wages he wants. As things stand we’re not really seeing that yet.
I quite like him and would prefer him to sign a new contract, I can also appreciate his negotiating position, but if it becomes apparent he has no intention of signing a (reasonable) contract with us under any circumstances, and is determined to run down his contract, I will certainly see him in the same light a Barkley.

Bingo

What I don't understand is, IF the reports are true that he's walked away from the deal, surely he'd been sounded out beforehand? No offence to him but surely he wasn't expecting parity with their best players? Unless they've absolutely lowballed him I don't really understand what's happened tbh.

What else could it possibly be. Your arguments are awful.
Newcastle could have been trying to pull a fast one. Maybe he just doesn’t want to move to Newcastle. Maybe Newcastle were using this deal to attract other offers. Maybe whoever released that information has another agenda.
People getting angry cos he didn’t move are weird.

To be fair it’s possibly a reporters catch all term / excuse for not wanting to go there
It might be they offered him the same or less than he currently getting, it might be they offered well over but he’s not interested in being associated with them.
Basically the equivalent of ‘I’ve got a headache’ 😂

We don't really know what has gone on behind the scenes. However, he has spoken about regaining his England place. That's fine, but it does tend to suggest that he has a high opinion of himself and may be expecting higher wages than anyone is prepared to pay currently. For me he's a million miles from becoming an England regular.
