2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Why. Just scroll the thread. The latest post above is the common theme. Praising his play. Highlighting his awful finishing. its a fair assessment.
You're making it a personal thing.
There are definitely some that want him to fail which is the same for all of our players. It's a shame. But are we not allowed to criticize anyone anymore? A lot of what I've seen is very fair. He hasn't been good enough in the two most important statistics. I'd like to see that improve, but he isn't a kid anymore. He is in that prime age and he isn't producing the goals he should.

You'd like to think that isnt the case. Mad if it is. If they stink the place out one game get criticised and are better the next and get credit when its due there's nothing wrong in that. A couple of good or bad performances dont really change most posters long term opinion from what i see.
I dont really pay much attention either way tbh. I dont care who's up front for Everton as long as they're cutting it.

He cost 1/a million Quid - & you moan - Beto & Tosun cost 58 million ?
Agreed Joey
People want to be proven right about slagging someone off and as the Dyche, Keane, Young etc threads are temporarily off limits, this thread has become a comforting refuge.

We can only hope he doesn’t score a hat trick next game.
Sorry mate this is nonsense.

There isn't one Evertonian who doesn't want him to stick chances away

A lot of these people I question their motives and some of them obviously just want bragging rights for being right or whatever. I absolutely think it's fair to question Dom's output statistically and the chances he continues to miss. People did the same with Walcott who filled a similar gap in the team but could not put his chances away. If both scored their chances and produced, neither would have been here.

Totally getcha and Im guilty of assuming hes going to miss in every one on one too, and it does frustrate me. But Im also super impressed by other aspects of his game, and as long as the other forwards contribute, i think he gives us more than any other forward we have one the roster - and i very much doubt we can afford anyone with his qualities who is also deadly in one on ones. For every one on one he misses he wins a header most other players wouldnt. There are positives and negatives with everyone, and i think hes mostly a positive and gets way too much crap. He seems a decent guy too, which is never a given.
Sorry, but I have to disagree. It’s a myth that he “wins a header most others wouldn’t”. He mistimes his jump so many times it’s bordering on ridiculous. He put a header 10 yards wide on Saturday, which in truth is fairly difficult to do. He scored a fine header in the derby last year but he rarely directs a header down to a team-mate. It sounds like I’m a hater but I just see what I see week in week out at the game and it frustrates the hell out of me. In this Dyche system Chris Wood would fare much better and most think he’s a donkey.

What has that got to do with it Joey? Neither of those 3 had any influence on their transfer fees. His wages are likely 3-4 times those of Beto - should that make a difference? The only common theme amongst them is they are all bang average finishers. He gets highlighted as he’s continually in the starting 11 and he’s wearing the famous number 9.

After reading Michael Keane's interview, about how he prepares to shoot, it makes me wonder what goes through DCL's mind when he runs at the keeper:

Maybe this time the keeper will dive and leave a gap under his body?"

If I score will my price go up?

I wonder if Tom's bought that pyjama overcoat yet?

Are those two worms screwing down there?

Should I grow my hair long again?

Cough..Arsenal!

Oh no… the left hand side of my shorts has dropped down again and now people can’t see my left quad … wait … what happend? Oh the keeper got it …

Let’s just hope his goals come when we need them, luckily we didn’t need them over the weekend. He needs to get some confidence to finish these one on ones
