2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Is he waiting for the proposed takeover to be finalised?

Anticipating an improved contract offer?+
Why do we want to give him an improved offer? Does anybody think he is worth £100,000+ a week? One decent spell in 8 years, not a hater of his but we should not be begging him to stay in my opinion, all we seem to do is make excuses for him, he is a very average PL striker the fact that he is comparable to Chris Wood says it all, let him go and move on.
There is a reason no one came in for him in the summer.

I don’t think this is true but I get what you’re saying.

Either way, I’m not sure letting DCL leave on a free and buying a 33 years old Chris Wood in the summer is what we need.

We defo need someone who can score more goals, unfortunately, I don’t think it’s Beto or Chermiti.
It is, Wood scored 14 last season. DCL has scored 14 in the last 4 years combined, but 5 were pens.

Great to hear him overcome hardship and adversity, picking up a yearly wage in a week, while also dealing with the huge change in culture between Sheffield and Liverpool. All of that will help me understand his position of stringing the club along, while he winds down his contract, to walk out on the club with no recompense so he can trouser more dough.

Glad you’ve grown man! ;)

Talk about living in a bubble.

He’s openly talked about mental health struggles during his time here so maybe don’t have a meltdown and pretend he’s not allowed to have his own troubles just because he’s rich. Makes you come across as a bellend.

For perspective, Beto is costing the club approx £150k per week in wages and amortisation of his transfer fee (more if he’s on a 4 year contract)

Of course he has a possible future transfer fee to offset some of that, but so would DCL as soon as he signed a contract.

You'd assume Freidkin will push for his depature in January rather than see the bloke coin it at our expense in July. I think he owes Everton fc now rather than the other way around.

Be a tough deal to do I think mate, he can do a pre contract abroad in January. The only way I think he’d consider it is if it was a quick release.

We’d miss him though in our current position.

Maybe if we were relatively comfortable or if Chermitti or Broja came in and impacted.

Really feel Doms finishing has been exposed this season, his strengths are crosses into the box, build up play.

Now we have players who can play through balls or ball at feet in the box - his finishing is badly exposed - we need to move in from Dom, even if he signed a contract tomorrow, we need a different option, we won’t progress with him.

The reason his situation is a face ache, is we get 0 return and it’s bad timing for us in transition.
