2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Really hope we don't give this fella a stupid contract. So many better strikers out there.
I want to have players who you can feel are fully committed to giving everything to the club. When you get into your last year of your contract having been offered a deal by the club its obvious your looking to see if there is anything a little better for you out there and cannot be fully focused on the club.
What worries me is that there dosen`t seem to be anyone at the club that seems ready to lead the front line, otherwise DCL would be sat on the bench instead of starting every week. Should have gone and brought a new CF in to the team in the summer instead of signing a center half in O`Brien to sit on the bench.

That's starting to look like one of the strangest deals we have done in a long time and we have done some strange deals over the years.

We did something similar the previous window too bringing in Beto and Chermiti. As soon as DCL came back Beto was dumped and Chermiti never got a run. You can say Chermiti was one for the future and Beto was just to cover for DCL, but when you`re a club where cash is in short supply and you`ve just barely stayed up on the last day, what money you spend on transfers need to be on improving your starting line up now and not signing players for the future or to improve the back up ranks, thats what you do when you move towards the top of the table and your going on long cup runs and playing in europe.

Well of course there isn't - the game Dyche wants to play is entirely centered around a forward exactly like DCL, and we never bought a 2nd DCL.

Confusing as to why we even spent money on Beto - he's alright and could be alright, but we play hoofball and he obviously isn't suited to this at all. Likewise Chermiti - wants to play with the ball, is technical, can spot a pass, but we would be hoofing it to him regardless.

On stuff Like Dyche say's he needs to know the prem league, The club, the history etc. I never buy into stuff like that. Your a footballer here to play football, If he plays and it does not go to plan on the pitch, so be it. You dont need to know who has scored the most, who's a legend, etc etc.

I suppose thats one good thing that we can take out of our recent transfer activity. We don`t need another CF with such a poor goal return.

The PL experience stuff is utter nonsense tbh, we as a club have done it to death over the years and it has got us nowhere, whether that's players or managers. Also some of the most successful players and managers in the PL came into the league without it and never stopped any of them because they are simply just good at their jobs (the key factor)

I meant as physical qualities, not literally cloning Dom.

Beto and Chermo are tall but that's where the similarities end, yet we still hoof even though it's clearly not how and when they're most efficient.
Yes, Dyche doesn't do playing to players strengths....he does playing to how he tells them. So if you don't fit to how he plays then you have little chance of showing your strengths

I would be amazed if the O'Brien and Mangala moves (and Nuamah who we also tried to get) weren't just a case of John Textor doing deals while he was involved in the potential takeover. The chances of us really wanting 3 fairly random and unremarkable players from the same club are remote, as are the chances of us choosing to blow real money on a player in a position we were relatively strong in.

We 100% needed a new CB. Just maybe a loan would have sufficed for one more year.

Oh yeah I agree with that, I meant more that of all the positions on the pitch where we might have chosen to spend a significant chunk of the budget I really can't imagine that they thought centre half we needed to do it on. It doesn't fit with the other moves we've seen from Thelwell, and the Textor link just seems like too much of a coincidence to me all things considered.

Can you please make this Calvert-Lewin's song.
He really needs a song and would start scoring for fun.
T.N.T. by AC/DC.

Ain't got no gun
Ain't got no knife
Don't you start no fight

'Cause he's DCL
He's dynamite
DCL
And he'll win the fight
DCL
He's a power load
DCL
Watch him explode
I think a more appropriate song would be Freedom by Paul Michael. Due to Dom wanting out, plus he'll be leaving on a free when his contract is up.
"Free Dom!
Free Dom!" As the chorus.

We can't keep repeating this nonsense.

He consistently fluffs his chances. We all see it.

Last season he underscored against his Xg by 8 or so goals. He gets chances, he just couldn't finish his dinner.

We've crossed the ball plenty and he hasn't gotten on any of them or when he has they've been headed over or at the keeper.

At some point you have to be honest and say that while he is our best striker currently, he isn't actually that good at scoring goals.
A centre forward who doesn’t know where the front post is.
A centre-forward who is offside more than any other player in the league.
A centre-forward who fills his pants every single time he’s in a one-on-one with the keeper.
A centre-forward who wont commit to playing at Everton.
A centre-forward who mistimes his jumps for headers with alarming regularity.
A centre-forward who centre-halves love playing against.

Sorry, not for me.
