2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Maybe that one can be Chermiti or Broja but it desperately needs a change in tactics from just lumping it forward and that won’t happen with Dyche
I think it needs both a change in tactics and personnel.

It's not easy to play centre forward under Dyche. But equally I think DCL has been extremely poor recently. We carry little threat with him on the field and his poor finishing means he can't take those half chances we create.

To put it simply, we look much more likely to score a goal when Beto is on the field.

….moving the deck chairs on the Titanic, Joey, trying things posters want him to try. I’ve given him plenty of criticism myself this season but today I thought our lack of quality was obvious.

We’ve struggled breaking teams down who sit deep for a long time which is why I said at half-time I doubt the sending off will help us. We can’t get around the back of teams, we can’t play through them. Crosses and set-plays are our only source of threat, we’d have still been playing now and not scored.
Yes very poor today, no guile whatsever,no player taking responsibility and trying to draw players out of position, little movement off the ball, giving the ball away under no pressure, although those last two faults have been there a long time. We played better against eleven men than we did against ten and Brentford never looked outnumbered when they lost a man with a very severe and harsh red card.

…agree. We have success defending well against better quality and hoping we capitalise on a mistake or a set piece. Thats basically how we play with the resources we have available.

If a team sits in against us we struggle. It’s how it’s always been.

Got nothing to do with resources, dyche plays the same not matter what. Not to make changes early or try something different, the problem is he doesn’t coach the players to play football, it’s huff and puff, boot it in the box and hope we can get the bounce of the ball in our favour,
Don’t think he would break 9 men down, wolves have put 4 past Fulham today, that’s Fulham side who played us of the park and apparently have a fantastic team, we did well to get a point was the cry.
Embarrassing

We need to cash in on him in January ASAP and withdraw the contract offer.

Question is who is going to pay anything for him considering he can’t score at all ?
strolling about offering nothing he is playing half hearted so not to risk injury as nobody would sign him ,I can’t see any premier league team offering any fee in January or him a silly contract come the summer, championship teams may gamble on him.i wouldn’t be happy if he played for another team and we wanted to sign him.

Cannot sell a player who does not want to be sold.

Calvert-SundayLeague will see out the final 2/3s of his contract and go on a free in the summer getting the best possible deal for himself in what will likely be his last big contract chance in the Prem (thats the most logical path, especially as -worst case scenario- he still has an offer from us).

Or, to put it another way: no team in their right mind is paying anything for a striker who averages about 6 goals a year, buuuut.... on a free transfer, the clubs that wouldn't normally be interested in him might be tempted to take him on a free at zero cost.
