2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

I don't think it's just that with some people. It'd be great if he could start finding the back of the net, but he's done here I think.
His lack of goals for us is the only thing that has me bothered.

I think the other players won't get as much attention at the moment for a couple of different reasons. Dom's contract is expiring and he isn't signing a new one. He's clearly under-performing from the high standards we've seen him show he's capable of. We aren't scoring enough goals.

On the other hand, the defending is alright right now and that's the main focus of 7 of our players under Dyche. We're playing Doucoure as a 10 and we've got two loan players to choose from on the right hand side that nobody is bothered about. What's worth talking about there?

The defending's shocking, Tarks and Myko are all over the place and being saved by Pickford every game, the wingers offer nothing every match and whoever plays number 10 is having zero impact. There's plenty to talk about, the threads are alive and well, just missing some people ;)

Tarks’ biggest problem sometimes is himself. He can’t get another yellow. The big thing I worry about tomorrow is him either being too aggressive or playing too cautious. This would almost be a good game to sit him for JOB or Dixon.

Myko is horrendous and Tarks is a player who we got for free after he had been relegated with Dyche. They're also playing with the oldest premier league player since the ghost of Giggs. Yet they've still kept a good amount of clean sheets recently.

Dom is a player who I've been told once hit 21 goals in a season and has only scored 2 so far going into January. Do you see why I have different levels of expectation for them?

I don't disagree with anything you said like.

Of course not. Nothing is ever his fault.

If he's on £100k a week here, that's more than the vast majority of players in the Champions League. The numbers you're talking are reserved for the biggest names at the top-spending clubs.

Broja appears to be capable of offering the same level of hold-up play for less than half the price, and he's basically a journeyman-in-waiting.

I think it was a perfectly suitable response to the claim that he must be a good player if he's been getting picked by a succession of Everton managers.

Pickford's quality speaks for itself. I don't really know why he's still here, but I'm glad of it.

I don't believe he's on 100k p/w, closed to 75k.

That's about the going rate. It's not CL money at all.

I'm not convinced Broja will sign for 30k p/w and will cost 30m. I'm not anti-Broja, but I was a bit underwhelmed with him V Forest.

Two opinions can be true at the same time

1. DCL’s technical ability in trying to finish is poor, his chance conversion is poor (xg and all that)
2. He doesn’t get a lot of chances (fewest in the league) which also effects his return, based on how Ginger Nuts has us play - the reality is we play defensively under Dyche and there has been a regressive (in quality) change of personnel around him

For a guy like DCL whose confidence must now be shot, for Dyche to say a striking coach is not required, just illustrates how Neanderthalic Dyche is a modern football coach.

What does that matter? We got DCL for £1.5m but I’ve been told that doesn’t matter now. Tarks has been here 3 years now so it’s irrelevant.

Also, Pickford got relegated with Sunderland and is still Englands number 1. Gueye got relegated with Villa, came to us before going to PSG.

Tarks got relegated with Dyche, there is a common denominator.

I saw him fully commit to a cross once and break his cheek bone and get booed off the pitch after it.

He can’t win here.
This was the day it ended, never played the same for us since. I see it both ways, Dom was fully committed and got hurt playing in our shirt and didn’t deserve to get booed. But our leading scorer who missed huge parts of multiple seasons who had just returned got yet another injury, I can see the frustration. Needed some good man management to avoid this getting personal but I think he has never gotten over it and is in part driving his decision to leave.

You do realise his stats and performances were sub standard before this?
I'm curious if there is another club in world football that its main forward scores 2 goals halfway through a season and you're not allowed to question if they are not cutting it.
Or is it an Everton thing lol
