I remember there was something in the press about 3 seasons ago, that the club were happy to move him on as they believed he had hit his ceiling and would not improve any further.

Whether it was his injuries or not which put paid to that, who knows?

As I wrote last night, wouldn’t be at all surprised if he’d retired by the age of 30.

I can see him playing out a couple of unproductive seasons in Turkey or somewhere, then being picked up on a free by someone like a Cardiff or Blackburn, scoring 2 in 21 and being injured all the time, then retiring.
