2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

I’m telling you what, I bet you he wishes he had signed a contract with us now. He will now go into the summer without a club and probably any team unwilling to give him the money he wants due to him being injury prone.

This is why we have watched him labour about for ages. He has clearly had his mind on leaving in Jan. Moyes has come in and expected more of him. Within 3 games he is out for the season. I think it shows alot about him.

Seems it's only us who don't realise he is crocked at this level. There is reason DCL sits with less than 6 months on contract with nothing lined up even before latest injury.

Crazy when you think about it. Had a contract on the table paying big wages, but decided to take the gamble in going off contract to get a better deal. This from a guy who's famously injury prone, who then obviously goes on to do his hamstring and probably ends his season. Was the gamble worth it Dom? I cant see a queue forming for his signature now, and certainly not on the wages he was expecting. Does this make him more likely to want to sign on again for us? Possibly. Is it likely to be a different contract to the one offered last summer...? Definitely.

I don't think he did have a big contract on the table from us. All evidence seems to suggest we were reluctant to commit, and happy to sell. Which was the right decision.

Possibly, but I'm not really convinced we offered him a very decent new contract, if one at all.

What is clear though, is that all this "he's going through the motions" nonsense is exactly this. The reality is, there's clearly a fear that if he goes full pelt he will break down again. It's a great shame really, but I'm not sure he has, or frankly ever will properly get over the injuries and be the 15+ goal a season man he was pre injury.

He sure did. 4 and 5 seasons ago. Under one of the best managers in history, with a large part of that timeframe being in empty stadiums (the same year Martial and Rashford both scored 20 goals each).

3 goals in 22 this season, 7 in 33 last season, 2 in 17 the year before that, 5 in 17 the year before that.

Goal return just is nowhere near good enough, yet for some reason some people cling on to dear life to the two good seasons he's had in eight-n-half years at the club and think it's why he's worth another contract. No other club does that, certainly not one with any ambition beyond circling the drain every year.

He was a youngster before those seasons really.

I'm not sure why goals don't count under a good manager? Do all the goalscorers at Manchester United not count under Alex Ferguson too? I'm not sure kn that logic.
