2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

I'm struggling to see that he adds value anywhere at this point in his career. Southampton? Brentford if Toney goes? Neither of them are likely to be paying big wages.
Why I think he’ll end up signing a new deal by the end of the month. Unless he agrees to half of what he’s supposedly seeking in wages, there probably just isn’t a club that hits the right notes of needing him and are willing to pay the fee and high wages. Would have to be a Prem team in all likelihood. Who knows, maybe he just wants a change of scenery and ends up at a Brentford, Bournemouth, Fulham. I’m someone who appreciates Dom, but he’s a low scoring forward with a sketchy injury record.

Can deffo see him at Fulham on deadline day.

Newcastle could not meet his wage demands - yet we have Keane - useless - & Doucs finished on that pay ! You can see why he is asking for parity, but those two are not worth their pay either - old & past it .....

Well yes, but then he still has a worse goals per game and goals per min ratio, so what difference do those caveats make?
The same difference all of those caveats make for Dom when they're used to handwave away poor performances and goal returns.

No difference at all, simply pointing this out. Some posters can't help but bring up the never-ending list of caveats for Dom but yet won't extend those caveats when discussing others.

So you think those two are clearly not worth their pay and you think that justifies Dom to ask to join them in the ranks of the severely overpaid?

But I never said anything about Solanke having poor performances or poor goal returns?

Are you maybe reading things that aren't there.

You brought up that he had a worse goal to minutes ratio than Dom.

I pointed out that you left out the litany of caveats we give Dom when comparing him with any other striker.

I pointed that out because all of those regular excuses we see for Dom's poor goal return apply doubly for Solanke who played in a worse team, with worse players, for worse coaches, and who has actually been relegated in that time.

If you want to reduce it to just a goals to minutes evaluation without context suit yourself, I think we should give Solanke the same excuses we make for Dom personally.

I merely commented that he had worse stats than Dom when someone was discussing his value vs Solanke's £65m.

That's all.
