He has been thrown in at the deep end and done brilliantly all things considerating. A fair few games out of position as well. He could be could end up being excellent. He is playing well at the moment.

I wouldn’t be against a better more experienced striker coming in.

He seems to do pretty much everything well except score goals at this point. I think a lot of that has to do with how poorly we’ve played overall until recently. I agree with those that are saying at this moment, he isn’t ready to take us to the next level, but i’m good with not bringing in a striker and letting DCL develop for the rest of the year because we aren’t going anywhere this year regardless.

It's the dilemma of young players in English football. We bring in a striker and dcl plays less, improves slower and we get a lesser player at the end of it. Rely on him and he's going to be in and out of form, can pick up injury etc. He needs to be playing week in week out in a top league either way.

Like DCL would get nominated when Solanke went from Chelsea to that lot and was the "star player"

DCL has almost identical goal scoring stats to that of Marcus Rashford, who is not only a regular for England, but was voted 75th best player in the world this year according to the rather silly Guardian thing. That's obviously despite United being a far stronger side than we've put out this year.

True but he had injury problems at Villa and his scoring record this season makes DCL look a much better option.

DCL just needs to learn how to put his foot through the ball. He's been excellent this season and will continue improving. Going to be a splendid player in years to come.

That seems a little harsh, he's done fantastically well for his age and experience. I agree we need a proven striker to come in and help out but I'm not sure benteke is the answer.

I don't think it's harsh and for the record I am not saying DCL is crap or writing him off I am saying he is still young and raw and not the ideal man to take us forward. Yes he is doing well for his age and experience and I haven't doubted that but that is still not good enough yet. There are players out there that are much better currently and that's what we need to get. Just saying DCL is not the man yet but could be eventually. Great potential but at this stage of his career we need better and not have to depend on a kid that is still learning his trade.

Once he adds that to his game he will fantastic.
His hold up play is improving, he has a first touch, he has awareness.
IF is goalscoring instincts and shooting technique improve we will have quite a player.

I would be tempted to continue with him as the main striker. Certainly buy someone in to help with the burden, but I think he is getting better with every game and this season is one in which the club needs to give the likes of DCL and JJK the chance to make their postions their own.
