2017/18 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

These comparisons to Harry Kane are a bit silly. Kane is one one the best finishers the Premiership has ever seen. Calvert Lewin’s finishing is slightly better than Hibbert’s.
That was......exactly what I said. His finishing is terrible.

If his finishing was quite good, he would probably have at least 15 goals this season, hes had that many opportunities in front of goal. Because if he could actually finish, unlike most good finishers, he has height, speed, strength, the athletic trifecta that determine if someone can peak at good, or at world class. But you cant peak until you do the most basic thing a striker needs to do, and that is score goals.

Thing Is mate, he's not actually that quick, he's not strong and he isn't good technically . I don't rate him at all, I like his attitude and his mrs... that's about it.

He’s the fastest person at the club outside Walcott I suspect.

The problem with him is that his pace doesn't actually contribute a great deal to his game in key moments. Since he joined there have been numerous times Walcott's pace has caused a threat. The same can be said of Coleman - that run in the Leicester game for example. Bolasie is frustrating but uses his pace on occasions.

When does Calvert-Lewin use it to his advantage where it's earned us a goal or he's carved out a chance through his so called explosive pace? I could be wrong, I am just genuinely struggling to think of examples.

Well a quite few times in my mind like the run to win the penalty against the RS. I agree he could do more with it though but I think that’s a little symptomatic of the way we play. He’s not got that Vardy kind of accelarion but more qualities balls over the top against higher backlines could be exploited. He’s been asked to play lots of different ways this season but he could do worse than trying to emulate the way Henry and other wide forwards play coming in from the left between RB and CB. He’s certainly got the physique for it.

And before anyone goes nuts I’m not saying he’s the new Henry I just mean the type of forward he was: Henry, King, Rashford, Son, Mbappe etc.

Why do we hate our young uns so much ??!!

1 extreme to the other we are, players are either utterly boss and worth billion or [Poor language removed] and should be thrown in the bin.

I really think that this is the wrong season to judge DCL

He was not looked after very well - just being put in as a main striker - and people argue that 19/20 year olds don't do well playing the entire season on debut.
We have to surely reserve judgement on DCL, Lookman, Kenny, Connolly (if he's good), Vlasic, Baningime, Klassen, Pickford, Dowell until we actually have a long-term vision, a proper DoF. It's such a shame as we bought or had a good group of young players this year, and i'm afraid bad management might mean they get lost

to be fair pal, I don't think anyone is hating on him the general consensus is just he's not good enough

personally I would try and loan him out someone next season where he will start most games when fit even if it means dropping down a division so he can work on his finishing on movement each week because at the moment he's good at a lot of things but doesn't excel in anything, and at the end of the day a strikers job is to score goals and his finishing isn't good enough for him to do so consistently

He said himself that jags is faster than him. Had jags as the fastest player at the club in an interview . This is before Walcott signed. I would say that Coleman is faster , Walcott , jags, bolasie . DCL is not fast over 10-15 yards which is what you need as a striker. He may run the 100m fast but the players above all burn him over short distances. They all get round players and pull away with the ball , DCL doesn't do that
