Glad you don't believe that, Zat. I've met proper racists too, in Johannesburg. Really unsettling. Can't compare with what passes for racism in Europe. Never been to Japan or USA, sounds quite regressive there too.

We also got attacked by 7 malays outside a club in singapore....100% racially targetted.

Sorry, that sounds like you're saying what is commonly denounced as racism is Europe is, in your opinion, not racist because you once met someone worse in South Africa?

In a word...yes.

The bold bit I never said.
Ok, I must've misread it. Because to me it looked like you were saying you've met 'proper' racists so the stuff that goes on in Europe isn't racism.

Can you clear it up for me please? I'm not trying to catch you out, I'm curious as to your cut off point for what should be classed as racism.

You said I "met someone once". I said: "I've met proper racists". There's a significant difference. I also didn't say that what goes on in Europe isn't racism. I said what goes on in ZA "can't compare with what passes for racism in Europe", where we have actual laws against such.

Have you even been to a township bang in the middle of a well-off modern city? It's bizarre.

No comparison to Europe.

I hung out with black friends & family, and I hung out with white friends & colleagues. Not gonna go into details, but the differences in attitude will stay with me forever, and really makes me appreciate the (relative) racial harmony we have in Europe. In London over many years I hung out a lot with people from all backgrounds...totally different 'quality' of racism experiences to ZA.

Check out the film: District 9. Very good analogy.

I could understand if they also were up in arms about the black cop being shot...but no in his case his life wasnt worth mentioning as he was a cop.

Instead they should have also been up in arms about the white guy shot by a cop last week....but nothing either.

So its only relevant when blacks are shot by cops..mnot latinos or whites or anyone else. To support that when J.lopez posted that all lives matter (and other celebs did too) she was sent a lot of nasty tweets.

I wonder if this wasnt white people or another community complaining there wouldnt be a different view about them.
So the important issue for you isn't that African Americans experience a vastly different law experience than whites.

Or even than lots of people of all races get shot and that there is little data either tracking it, processes to learn from the deaths, any consistent punishment of officers that overstep the rules or a focus on how we can help both the police and general public be safer.

The important issue to you is that when protesting BLM should get the optics right by making sure that they mention every single incident of police shootings and pretend that there isn't any racial aspect at all? Can you honestly put your hand on heart and say you believe that there is no difference between how police treat a black man vs a white man in exactly the same circumstances?
