I don't think they went higher than 7, Boro pretty much let it known that unless the bid something absurd (like say Darren Bent money) they aren't getting him.

He's OK and could provide decent service for our strikers when Arteta is hurt/resting. He also gets lazy though and refuses to defend so you'll need a quality defensive back 4 and perhaps 2 midfielders back when he plays. Even Boro fans were starting to turn on their hometown boy last year becasue they were sick of him dogging it. His salary and transfer fee won't be cheap either. I would rather have Pinnear he's cheaper and argueably better.

Another question why go for Downing when we already have such a player on our books!

Firstly we need a RB, then we need some one in midfield to replace Carsley, who has been a loyal servant and has given all to the club, he deserves a lot of respect from the fans. After that then how about another CB?

Only get another front player if one leaves.

I'm not advocating signing Downing, But. What about Vaughan, can he not head or jump? And where's the rule written that all crosses have to be in the air for headers? And anyway, how many headers has Owen scored for England? A fair few i say.

CM has got to be our next priority. Other areas might need strengthenin but this has been our weakest link this season.

The return of Cahill an Carsley and the 5 man midfield has worked recently, but we still need a midfield general who can take hold of a game. Carsley's great at the defensive stuff. Cahill's great around the box, but we need an all rounder...especially if want to play with just 2 in the middle.

ronaldhino has a pony tail. you talk about these brazillians like theyre the greates thing ever. thats why tehy beat you. you play their game. just like man u. we let them dictate to us how the game is going to be played. thats why they kick our asses. i believe there is an incredible pool of untapped guys out there. guys who can mark ronaldniho. slam his face in the dirt kick him and his faggot pony tail into the ground. make them bleed. they are pussies. not every guy brought in will pan out, but i can assure you some will and they will be great players. the law of averages guarantees it. there 300 million people in the us we have the largest population of top pure atletic talent on the planet here. were not better people. we just have better athletes and more of them. i think that a team like everton who cannot compete financially needs to explore other potentail pools of talent than taking scottish internationals. everyone is all over europe and south america.the big clubs are going to the best players. just think of it as a magical land where there are players for everton to pillage and forget about the natioanlity. a place where real madrid and man u arent looking. it will take time develop them as it takes time to develop any player.if i were everton i would concentrate on developing, finding and securing our own young talent and avoid paying for guys who are unhappy somewhere. i dont like guys who are unhappy. youre getting paid big money to put on that uniform and play. he should shut his mouth, play out his contract and when the time comes he can get what he wants.its a privelege to play football. this guy sounds like a selfish guy who i dont want on my team
