Duncan Ferguson - The Coach

You keep saying hes tried to get the job full time but hes repeatedly and publically said he doesn't want it.

How are you squaring the two?

...he's said it between the lines: 'I'm here for as long as I'm needed'; 'Who wouldn't want to manager this club?'. His use of the Howard Kendall watch story was pure spin - making himself look like an an annointed apostle of the fallen hero. The ball boy hugs.

Pure positioning.

Stepped up and did the job he needed to do for the club. I am really happy for him. He reestablished a baseline standard for effort and passion in the squad. Even with the loss yesterday Ancelotti had to take notice of the fan response when they fought back to tie. Goodison can send shivers up your spine when it is on its game. What manager wouldn't want that behind them.

Hopefully Duncan will learn some additional "tactical nous" from ancelotti that will have him more rounded and ready for when his next opportunity arises. Passion and effort aside his tactics were very Allardyche.

Then keeps saying "I'm just a coach", "this club needs a world class manager", "Its about the club not me", "I'm not the man for the job"... repeatedly ruling himself out of the running. On TV.

That's been one of the nice things with Duncan for me (and I know nice isn't really your bag), hes gone at it with no agenda and no ego and never tried to make it about him.

Given the scenario, what would you have preferred to have happened.

What series of events would have made @davek not whinge like a fat kid with a small bowl of fruit for pudding?

That's all spin.

I'd like him to go and prove himself outside Everton. Wouldn't you?

I;d have preferred this club to have acted professionally and had a successor lined up as soon as Silva was sacked.

Don't think we can draw many, if any, conclusions about his preferred tactics based on the last three games. He's had very little time to spend with the players and injuries are constraining selection also. Pretty much all that was available was to fire them up and be hard to beat.

You suck dawg

You're just mad that we're not playing stupid sideways ball anymore. Which is a style designed and played by virgins.

You should probably move along. Proper men are going to be in charge of the club.

Depends what he wants doesn't it? If hes happy with his role why would you fire him? Who am I to make career choices on his behalf?

Oh, and to use the watch as apin he would still need the watch. So unless you're suggesting hes been rooting through the valuables at Kendall Heights he was still presented it as a symbol of the esteem the old man held him in.
