Duncan Ferguson - The Coach

What is your reasoning for this conclusion? That 'we are not trying to be expansive'? It certainly isn't indicated from the performances of the players. We came back from 2 down to draw with Leicester when we were chasing the game and they were trying to shut up shop. That performance alone suggests it cannot be that straightforward to say we are not trying to be expansive because we were... and came back anyway against a team that is 2nd in the league and has only lost twice this season (Man Utd away and Liverpool away).

It does seem likely that the results cannot remain this good simply because the team over any other period of the 16 games played has not been able to replicate this current form (even when playing against newly promoted teams), yet you underestimate Ferguson and you are wrong to do so. The players have been exceptional and have grown in confidence under his leadership. We could just as likely beat Arsenal despite the team not fully recovering from Wednesday because the players will give everything and the fans should back them to the hilt.
We're keeping tight and hoping to pick up the results that way. Fine for a few games, then we're opened up for few games and the plan goes west.

We need a method of playing that allows us to adapt in-game. Ferguson cant do that. He's a dinosaur. It's been barmy reading people advocating him as manager. He needs to go out and learn the game.

I'm positive too. If we get Ancelotti in and we mean business in terms of backing his judgement. It;s where we should have been after Mohiri took over 4 years ago.
Time has been wasted.

Ferguson: he's made a difference due to a bounce and the fact that we are not trying to be expansive. But you cant carry on like that, and some people (including Ferguson himself) wanted him as a long term manager. That would have been a disaster, and that's been at the heart of my criticism of him. As said: if he sees himself as a manager of Everton, let him go out and prove himself. Looks like he wants to just sit and wait other people out though. That's not the type of man we need for a great club like this.

I tell you what Dave, if he hadn't of stuck it out and being a top "cone layer" and picking up results, David Moyes would now be in the dug out about 15 minutes after us getting rodgered by Chelsea.

He bought us time, enough time where by chance Ancelotti was sacked and we've actually gone balls deep to get a top end manager.

A defeat by Chelsea, there's no Ferguson overseeing Utd away and Leicester at home.

The man has proved beyond ALL reasonable doubt that he loves Everton like we all do because before a ball was kicked against Chelsea he said it was an honour to manage Everton but we should be enticing the best managers in the world.

Give him credit for all of the above Dave, because you know 100% that one defeat against Chelsea we would be discussing Daveys choice of cardigan on the touchline.

It wasn't about the style of football, it was about buying us time and that time bought may have landed us one of the best managers we could only ever have dreamed of a couple of weeks ago.

Win, draw, loss...performances deteriorating each time too.
A home win against Chelsea who haven't done bad at all this season , A draw at Old Trafford and penalty shout-out lost to another top 4 side . He hasn't lost in normal time .
I don't get what you're saying here . What's he supposed to of done with this side that was average at best ... Before the injuries .

Please don't misunderstand I'm not suggesting all our problems are solved: far from it. I'm not suggesting Duncan hasn't made mistakes or won't make them in future. I'm not even suggesting the results will continue or that we will beat Arsenal (we could just as well lose). I'm just pleased we've got someone at the moment that is actually leading us because the team is clearly responding to whatever he's doing and we badly need the results. The first rule in football (if there is one) is to give 100%. All the plan B stuff and expansive football and developing patterns or whatever is great, but our position is precarious and we are desperate for the points. I think writing Ferguson off as a 'dinosaur' is extremely harsh.

Anyone criticising Dunc for these last 3 games is a bell. Not much more needs saying really.
Need to be realistic we have a load of injuries. And they way dunc is playing the players simply aren’t fit enough due to former manager. Could see it in the players on Wednesday night, they where shattered and unfortunately nothing Duncan could do due to amount of injuries we had. Hopefully Saturday we have a few back to at least freshen the team up.

The Chelsea match has made me love Everton again I can't really describe how the passion and performance has now galvanised the club. Silva as nice as he is stripped from me the enjoyment of going the match.
