Duncan Ferguson - The Coach

I tell you what Dave, if he hadn't of stuck it out and being a top "cone layer" and picking up results, David Moyes would now be in the dug out about 15 minutes after us getting rodgered by Chelsea.

He bought us time, enough time where by chance Ancelotti was sacked and we've actually gone balls deep to get a top end manager.

A defeat by Chelsea, there's no Ferguson overseeing Utd away and Leicester at home.

The man has proved beyond ALL reasonable doubt that he loves Everton like we all do because before a ball was kicked against Chelsea he said it was an honour to manage Everton but we should be enticing the best managers in the world.

Give him credit for all of the above Dave, because you know 100% that one defeat against Chelsea we would be discussing Daveys choice of cardigan on the touchline.

It wasn't about the style of football, it was about buying us time and that time bought may have landed us one of the best managers we could only ever have dreamed of a couple of weeks ago.

Agreed. It's actually been a perfect little run of games for Ferguson, hopefully including tomorrow. Being the underdog and rising to a challenge doesn't necessarily negate tactical acumen but it does mean the game plan can be simple as long as the players are up for it. And to Ferguson's credit he got them up for it in a way Silva hadn't even once this season, whilst having to deal with an injury crisis. He's been a perfect caretaker.

If Ancelotti comes in for the Burnley game it's well timed: it will require a different kind of mentality.

He needs to get out and prove himself. He's chosen, though, to remain as assistant. THAT tells me he's not mentally up to taking on the number one job.

I half-agree with this, as I’d like to see Duncan take on the number 1 job somewhere and make a good go at it. It seems like he’s able to motivate players, which is a big part of the job, but would be good to see him develop tactically and be put under a bit of pressure.

That said (and this is the half I don’t agree with), he’d be mad not to stay and work with Ancelotti for a period. The chance to learn from one of the game’s great managers is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Win, draw, loss...performances deteriorating each time too.

@GrandOldTeam when he was advocating Moyes last week and you called him out as just being deliberately obtuse and trying to go against the grain, here is another fine example.

Just saying.

An Evertonian who hates and has publicly slated two fine professionals and long standing servants such as Baines and Jags over the years, with deliberately inflammatory and sometimes very vindictive remarks.

It’s all a bit weird is what I’m saying. Not snitching, not asking for any action to be taken, just pointing it out that the massive crank is at it again, it’s all very, very strange behaviour for a grown man.

Hadn't notice @davek is a massive crank before until you just pointed it out.

That's all I'm asking mate. Not too much really is it - that a manager of this club actually proves his worth as a manager first?

yeah, I agree with you on that. I think we maybe disagree a bit on what it says about him if he stays after Ancelotti (hopefully) comes in. I think he’d be mad to leave *now* when he could be very well placed to learn more from Carlo than he would with a year or 2 at Wigan.
