He's not worth close to £50m to another side and that's the issue. We certainly can't afford that sort of money on a young unproven player.

I'm not sure where these rumours have come from, because I don't see how we can afford him.

I don't expect we will get 50 for him unless you and Villa really fight it out for him. Both clubs have been very free with money in recent times. I just hope he stays for another season.

We have been linked but his 120k salary is way too much for us. Every time I have watched him he runs down the wing cuts back in and shoots way over the bar. Hopefully there is someone in league one or championship on an upward curve.

I think we are paying him around 50k p/w mate.

He's a young lad that has had to play twice a week for the last year and barely missed a minute, while players were dropping like flies.
If he only played when he was at peak fitness or the game suited him like most 20yr olds, he might have far better stats?

I had a little check, and nobody currently in the PL of his age (21) or younger has played more PL league games (or top division) than him in his position. He's had a great education. That really appeals to me, a lad who has shown he is quite battle hardened.

A quick question though, was he not more suited to playing centrally? Is that not the long term plan with him?

Also, in terms of a financial situation, are you in a situation where you need to sell to bring more in?

If the plan with these wingers isn't to play 4-4-2 and get the ball into the box I'm not really sure what it is. I don't like that plan that much either but that one makes sense given who we have and these signings. Playing 4-2-3-1 or something that is a passing system imo is not what these players are suited to. McNeil and Townsend bomb tons of crosses and Gray tends to play that way as well although he'll shoot some too. They aren't half space players. They aren't goal scorers. So if you aren't going to have a second forward in the team I just don't see what the plan is.

Wheres this £50 million figure come from? The Echo are saying around £25 million.

They quoted £50 million last year but Napoli quoted £80 million for Allan and sold for £20 million.

Bill Kenwright wasn't selling Rooney for a penny less than £50 or so million if I recall correctly as well.

I was responding to the Burnley fan who mentioned £50m. I don't know what the fee will be but I'd expect it to be a lot more than £20m.

Probs go for around £30 million you would imagine. Sounds paper talk to me but would be happy enough - sort of hard worker Moyes would have signed back in the day.

Aren't there any good players available anywhere, they don't have to be great, just 100%ers, Reid, Dobson
and Gray (Andy), They were far superior to anything these last 3or 4 managers have bought, not one of
our present midfield are fit to lace the boots of Reid & Dobson who were never regular England players.
Moise Kean, PMT Richarlison or DCL should never be mentioned in the same breath as Andy Gray, again not a regular Scottish international. I truly believe that all these 'Scouts' and DoFs are getting money for
nothing.
