Transfer Rumour Dwight McNeil

Good potential signing, but strange one to go for if we are short of cash and Burnley can and will over-value him.

It's harder to scout a continental equivalent, but cheaper if you can do it.

Unless it's for the likes of Townsend on a free, we are not in a position to ask Burnley to effectively name their price for one of their few cash cows.

I wonder if Burnley are need of some cash, a bit like us?

Yeah he stands out wide and hammers crosses in. It's fine if that's what you want to do. But until he leaves Burnley and shows he can do something else I'm not really convinced he's got much more to offer. Honestly at this point he feels like one of those guys who ends up at fullback in time.

I understand the supposed talent that he has but I'm just someone who wants to see the signs of it in actual matches.

This is exactly what we need to get the best out of DCL and even Richarlison. If this lad can whip a few decent balls in each game it'd be very effective I think.

Combined with a decent right back who could do the same, it would make us way less predictable in attack. Crosses coming from three players (LB, RB, RW) with Hamez doing sexy things from the middle of the pitch.

In theory it works for me, and seems like a balanced side.

FFS put the phone down. The lad can take on players for fun unlike Richarlison.
You're not going to find me going crazy about Richarlison the wide player but as always that isn't how you should be evaluating signings. Better than what we have and good enough for what we want to be aren't the same thing.

If that's the plan then I can actually live with it because we desperately need any plan. It won't be my favorite idea of how to play football but it's something.

What we want is to finish 9th-13th for the next 3 years. That’s assuming by “we” you mean the club itself.

Okay. I’ll leave you to argue all he does is stand and hammer crosses in, despite the evidence of your own eyes.
Football is a volume game. Doing something once doesn't mean you are that player. It's like claiming Beckford was a top level dribbler because he scored one end to end goal. Doing it week in week out is what makes you a top player. Week in week out McNeil crosses and tracks back. That's what you're getting.
