Transfer Rumour Dwight McNeil

Only 21 with much to learn. While those stats might not seem good, he did have the second most accurate crosses in the league over the last two seasons after Alexander-Arnold. Digne is third.

I suppose you should question if you think DCL is better aerially than Chris Wood? In theory, he should notch up more assists if that's the case.

Interesting those stats, I appreciate the info. I hesitate to watch his YouTube highlights but I suppose any 21 year old is going to have flaws. His stats are promising going forward

This just tells me his future is at fullback in the modern game

With the other 2 wingers, it just seems like overkill. Not based n anything, but I think Richarlison will be off if we are bidding for Mcneil.

If were playing wide attackers then we really need 3 good ones, at the moment we have one in Richarlison.

If Richarlison is central then with Gray/Townsend coming in we'd still need two more.

If James is injured/tired perhaps McNeil takes over his role.

Three If's...£20-25mil + bonus clauses seems to be a very good deal.

Have you even watched this lad??? Or is the Burnley thing putting you off?

Yeah he stands out wide and hammers crosses in. It's fine if that's what you want to do. But until he leaves Burnley and shows he can do something else I'm not really convinced he's got much more to offer. Honestly at this point he feels like one of those guys who ends up at fullback in time.

I understand the supposed talent that he has but I'm just someone who wants to see the signs of it in actual matches.

The first part seems like youve not seen him play much before.

The second part makes no sense at all...

He reminds me a bit of Darren Anderton if that helps.

@Claret thoughts?

Then why say “he stands out wide and hammers crosses in,” or that you’ve yet to see his talent?

lol Its a bit like saying "Beckham hammers crosses in"...one thing with McNeil is that he/Digne put alot of accurate balls in.

Hes Burnleys main creative player so should get alot more space playing for us with the likes of DCL, James and Richarlison in the team + Digne sharing the left sided assist mantle.

If we are able to bring in a super right sided wide man as well then i would guess that his assists would increase with more options.

Not that old mate sorry.

He reminds me of, weirdly, Andros Townsend.

He is a good player. The question- is he the one we should buy? I’d rather him than nothing, but I’d rather a bit more pace and goal threat than Dwight.

For me it would be an okay signing. Nothing more until he shows a goal scoring threat or proves himself invaluable as a crosser which he may.

His stats are good for his age. We could do worse.

McNeil or not, we’re definitely after a starting winger of the right calibre according to reports. It would be the absolute dream to sign 2 of McNeil, Bailey, Chukwueze to cover both flanks but unfortunately it probably will be only 1 due to finances, with Townsend and Gray offering rotation and bench options). As much as I like McNeil, the other 2 seem like more natural right wingers which makes you wonder why we’re targeting a left winger first? Not complaining though, he’s lefty footed and won’t need to settle

The stats were mentioned earlier in this thread but this is the actual tweet. We have one of the best header’ of the ball in the league, so at least it looks as though there is an actual plan. Especially when you see Digne up there too.

When you have a weapon in the air like DCL, it would be foolish not to play to his strengths and that’s exactly what we look like doing by recruiting wide players with good delivery.

I’d expect DCL’s goal tally to be boosted this season.

I have a feeling the Bailey/Chukwueze links are paper talk just not the sort of players Brands goes for.

The links to McNeil seem more concrete based on his track record of signing largely big club cast offs or PL based players.

Would be happy with McNeil but would love Bailey having watched/read a bit more about him you feel IF he adapted to the Prem he would be a very good wide player.

I mean, they are.
