Its not always about pace though. It's also about movement and intelligence. We actually do have some "fast" players already but they seem unhappy at running into space and making an option for their team mates.

He reminds me a bit of sheedy, great left foot. This lad is still young and looks to have good potential. He does put a good cross in and he has good movement on the pitch.

I sort of agree, but where else would he play? Not like we are going to drop Richarlison - unless we are planning on playing a 442, which wouldn't really be typical of Benitez

But we have a very good crosser of the ball on the left already. The issue is we don't get Digne deep enough often enough so he has to cross from miles out which means he nearly always has to get it bang on the money if we're to have a chance of someone getting on the end of it.

We need a right-back and need proper pace for the right hand side. McNeil has never played there, so it'd be weird to spend so much money on a player to come in and play a role he's never played before?

I wouldn't be unhappy with the signing, it just seems a strange one.

We've already signed Townsend, statistically the best crosser in the league last season. We are after a right back and you'd assume they'll want one who can deliver a ball plus we have Digne who is a terrific crosser. Personally (and everyone is entitled to their opinion), I'd much rather that we prioritised someone who can beat a man and give us pace on the break which we've lacked. Only Calvert-Lewin has anything like the pace to stretch a defence.

McNeil wouldn’t be playing on the right surely, if he’s the main winger signing, I’d imagine he’d play on his preferred left

Defo wouldn't be unhappy with the signing Toff, I think he's a good player and got further to go tbh, I do have a concern on where he is going to play though, not sure where he fits at the moment, but he would 100% make squad stronger. Much better player then people give him credit for.

Up top? He hasn’t really played out on the left as a legit winger for a bit now
