Transfer Rumour Dwight McNeil

I think we'd only go as far as £20m, perhaps a bit more with add-ons on performance.

Can't see us going £30m for him.

Having someone on that left flank who can cross a ball would be great. Not seen enough of McNeil to have an opinion on him. I do know we need a whole right flank first though.
McNeil has obvious potential, I would swerve him and see if Benitez can improve the potential in Gordon, there is something lacking in the lads game that Ancelotti couldn’t improve and let him go on loan. Gordon can be a much better player, as he has shown in glimpses, if he can up his game and get more involved throughout the game, instead of going missing for long periods he can save Everton a lot of money. Benitez might just be the manager that Gordon needs to improve and utilise the huge potential he has got.

I agree. My neighbour is a Burnley fan and he does not rate him.

I think these days if you aren’t quick you’ve got to be good , is he ? genuine question

That is a good question and I really don't know is the answer.
He looked good against us at Goodison last season, but who didn't ?
He has been highly rated and spoken about for a couple of seasons already and that is a good sign.

I suppose the questions are if he is a good player in a limited Burnley team or a potentially very good player not fully able to prosper because he was in a limited Burnley team...... shades of Richarlison again.

If McNeil was a Richarlison type and the potential was there for all to see, it'd be a different story. It was a gamble but an educated one.

I just don't think McNeil is in the same ballpark. I think he's a 'decent' player, nothing more, with potential to just about be a top six standard player. He doesn't have the pace IMO to go next level.

I think McNeil is a Richarlison type in terms of defending and working hard for the team.

In the league last season:
McNeil got 2 goals and 5 assists
James got 6 goals and 4 assists

The question shouldnt be "is McNeil a good player", he is. For us, only Digne with 7 assists had more than McNeil.

The question should be "can McNeil double his output of goals/assists to 14 a season playing for Everton"?

Ideally we would keep James and rotate the two of them for a season or two.

As for the pace issue, I think if we signed Nunes and Aarons then that is solved for a season.

I think McNeil at 21 would be a good signing and Im hopeful that he could double his output of goals/assists for us.

Id say £20-25mil + Kenny with another £10mil in bonus clauses.

Kenny is probably on £20k a week and McNeil may accept £60k a week...

I wouldnt question that deal, but id question why we didnt sign Aarons first.

We're not signing £100m worth of players. I'm fairly confident on that.

If it were McNeil £25m, Dumfries £15m and Nunes £15m, that's just about plausible.

Allan and Doucoure could play in a 2, Gbamin, Davies and maybe this Nunes lad could also play there in rotation?

It's not that they can't play in a 2, it's that in a 4-4-2 there's even less protection than in a 4-2-3-1.

And Allan and Doucoure got seriously legged about when they played in a 3-4-3 last season, for example

Villa over the last couple of years have gone over what people would call market value for players they have wanted to get!

Buendia at £34m
Watkins at £30m
Cash at £14m
Mings at £25m

All prices at the time i thought was a lot of money on players who were a gamble, but what it has done is its avoided any competition for that player.
I think they may do the same with McNeil and lash £35m at him to stop us from doing anything

Aarons £30mil / McNeil £20-25mil / Nunes £15mil = £65mil-£70mil.

The difference is Aarons or Dumfries.

without grealish villa have the following wingers:-

Buendia
Traore
Trezeguet
El Ghazi
Bailey

not sure they need another winger

I think he's nailed on to play fullback in the future
