In what world is McNeil an improvement on Richarlison? If you can't see how unambitious this is and what an incredible downgrade on the player that kept us up this is then there is no point.

Reality is that we can't attract a player of Richarlison's quality, and we couldn't afford the transfer fee if we could attract the player.

McNeil is an upgrade on Gray, and that's what matters here. We need someone else that can head the ball to cover DCL, if we're going this route. We also need players in midfield to get the ball to McNeil and Gordon.

…I think he’ll prove a decent addition, one that makes the squad stronger than it is now. A few times last season I pointed out the lack of balance in the team when we were often bereft of left footers so it’s good seeing that addressed.

McNeil has quality, he’s a good age and can cover a number of positions. Not a signing I think certainly keeps us in the league but a player who will start most games & an improvement on what we have.

I anticipate he’ll quickly be popular with fans.

He seems similar to Grealish in that he's been around forever and is a very good dribbler despite a lack of electric pace. Grealish at the same age had 3 goals 5 assists in the championship

*if* we somehow manage to buy/loan a #6 I'd expect McNeil to play just as much in a midfield 3 as an out and out winger.

Said that to my mate last night, it’s odd how Burnley wouldn’t entertain a structured deal for Cornet but were happy to do so for McNeil
