Confirmed Signing Dwight McNeil

replacing Richarlison with a player who didn’t score a single goal last season and got just one assist.

Our inability to look beyond the U.K. for players is astounding. There’s surely better players in the other leagues available for the same amount.
I don't think he's Richarlison's replacement at all. And until it's apparent that he is, best not to get too angry about it.

Rondon isn’t up to standard leading the line or on the counter but he’s not bad at finishing and decent in the air so perhaps could benefit from Dwight’s delivery

He's never in the box to get on the end of things mate.

If he's our back up striker and one who comes in to replace DCL well thats a relegation forward line and we'll be deep in the crap from the off

totally agree if was any good bigger clubs would be circling
he Couldn’t help to keep Burnley up so why will he keep us up
Nice logic. So now we should only sign player that won’t sign for us because bigger clubs want them ?
absolutely, we're rubbish but not to the standard of Burnley rubbish. 38 games not scoring a goal and 1 assist, Rondon did better than that in 20 games and his 32 .............I rest my case your honour ?‍♂️
We are comparing midfielders to strikers now.

The iq in this place is deep decline.

We'll bring in another striker, think McNeil is more to address the imbalance of the squad. Barely a left footer in the squad before him.

Disagree.

With Vinagre and McNeil coming in we now have 3 left footers. That's much more balance and ability to open up different playing angles.
It looks more balanced in that sense yes, but that’s not what I said. It looks very one dimensional, basically we’re looking at getting wide and putting crosses in for DCL. If that doesn’t work, or god forbid he gets injured, then what do we do? Currently our entire game plan revolves around providing for DCL and him scoring 20 goals, so it’s very one dimensional.

Maybe the likes of Barkley/Alli are the the different dimension. They'd be more play through the middle or through the lines type.

He isnt a replacement for richarldson. 2 different levels. But I presume the idea is to replace richie's contribution with a winger who can cross to dcl and another like dele who will push more into the box

Imagine some of the crabs on this forum the day we signed Arteta, Cahill or Pienaar...
All three of those cost peanuts - and two of them were on loan initially

We don't have any money and have at least 2 positions that we desperately need to fill in 9 days

If you aren't underwhelmed and slightly bewildered by this signing then good for you - but most of us are.

I'm optimistic about him. Not slow, good dribbler, great crosser. Not a glamourous signing but one perfect for consolidating the mid-table, drama free finish that's the best we can hope for this year.

That’s very optimistic. We’re building a squad of players who’ve fought relegation or been relegated throughout their careers.

A mid-table finish seems a bit of a pipe dream considering we’ve lost our best player and at the moment at least, seem to have replaced him with a guy who an attacker who doesn’t score or assist.

Coming around to this, he's a baller who can beat players and can actually pass the ball and is comfortable on it, which will make him unique in a team like ours.
