2024/25 Dwight McNeil

From the limited minutes we've seen of Ndiaye and Lindstrom, I'd say Lindstrom looks like he could work from wide right and have the freedom to come in from the touchline.

Ndiaye looks like a fish out of water the way we play our left winger and he 100% needs to be behind the striker.

It would be a huge understatement if I told you I've got massive reservations once again on the recruitment of Thelwell and where he actually seen these players getting selected for. Very similar when Danjuma signed and Thelwell saying he's perfect for a, but and c and Dyche with a short line or 2 about how he'll offer us something different....knowing he had no intention at all from moving away from the Mcneil/Doucoure/Harrison trio.

There's a huge disconnection, it's blatantly obvious between Dyche and Thelwell and the question is who is pushed first.

Should always be the manager mate in that either or scenario.

Just bare analysis of the choices.

Brings in an interesting firm CB who has zero adaptation time given he's lived over here already, Dyche chooses to play an old favourite whose terrible instead.

Dyche chose a 39yo young ahead of a 19yo novice who'd shown very good pre season form.

Brought in a left winger on loan Dyche for the second straight season plays him out of position so that his favourite player McNeil can start every game.

Brought in a ACM well two in fact - Dyche when he uses him, shifts one of the two actual wingers into attacking mid to ensure they both have to play on the wing were both struggled last season.

The only two faint bright spots this season have been Tim and Dixon, both absolutely forced onto the manager to Okey them by lack of any other options.

Can criticise Thelwell, I think unfairly given what he's having homework with finance wise, but he has given Dyche some options, it's on Dyche that he's choosing to not utilise them or to utilise them in a tactically inept way to ensure he can play players he 'likes'

Sorry I should have worded what i meant better - in an ideal world I wouldn't have him anywhere near the club. He is 100% one of the worst wingers I've had the misfortune of watching play for Everton. He wouldn't look out of place in League 2/Non League football.

BUT...whilst Dyche is here and still in charge, Mcneil will be getting a game nearly every single week and as that's the case, I'd rather see him in that 10 position than out wide on the left.

So, is he a 10? Nope you are absolutely correct. But given the choice of left wing or as a 10, I'd have him there where is he at least within shooting distance every now and then

I'm of the opinion that with a new owner hopefully we get rid of Dyche and the first window after we literally flog off certain players like McNeil, Mykolenko etc - both would actually receive interest, use them to generate anything money wise to try to fix some problems

But then Thelwell surely has to sack him as their ideas are completely different.

If Dyche doesn't choose them and that's allowed to continue well that says more about what a weak DoF Thelwell is than it does about Dyche. We know Dyche is stubborn. Whats also becoming clear is Thelwell can sign whoever he wants, if Dyche doesn't want to use them then there's no repercussions

Think more than a weak DoF may be a restriction on him sacking him from the owner mate as in there's no money to compensate so can't do it.

A fish rots from the head down

I've also got the gut feeling what Thelwell was told we had available got changed just after we signed O'Brien mate.

No clear evidence but circumstantially it felt that way.

Think he was doing deals expecting that money he'd replied on would be there and it got pulled short notice.

I also do palm readings.

Hes been failed by previous coaches who A. Never developed his right foot. B. Told him to be a winger in the pl you need to be quick and be able to beat a man. Should have been converted to a full back when he was in his teens
