If you watched the games you would know that most games young Leighton has 2 players ahead of him every game, when we play Garbutt we put a winger on his wing and last time he played he got babysat by Besic, this allowing him to bomb forward, if only Leighton was allowed such a luxury.

He's had ample opportunity to get forward. If you can say hand on heart the Baines of 12-18 months ago wouldn't have put in better performances than this then good luck to you. I cant see it, tbh, and I dont think I'm alone in that view.

Im not gonna pretend we have the old Baines, but as ive said before, the entire squad has under performed this season, its hard to shine as a player under such shocking a tactical environment, the fella in charge simply does not have a clue abar football, tactics and squad selection.

I'm sure he travels to away games now sulking and listening to his Nick Drake collection who he describes to his team mates as 'a dead boss singer-song writer from the 70s lad, who's dead sensitive and stuff...like what I am".

Out this summer would be Baines (as long as Garbutt signs new contract), Mirallas, Distin, Atsu, Howard, Lennon and Alcaraz. In would come goalkeeper, centre back, 2 wingers and a striker.

Next summer out would go Hibbert, Gibson, Kone, Barry, Osman and Pienaar and they would be replaced like for like with either new signings or hopefully some of the youngsters stepping up.

I don't understand the Kone hate on here. Intelligent player for me who should be kept certainly as a squad player particularly considering we will need to spend money elsewhere in the summer without also having to compensate for the loss of one of our 2 current strikers.
