ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

You say this as though City haven't been drawn against the women's balloon corps XI in pretty much every cup competition this year. Schalke in the last round for example, 14th in the German Creche league topped by an apparently 'poor' Bayern.

It's a fair point, though Spurs are better than anything City have faced. I am not sure what relevance it has to Liverpool though?

They’ll continue to be in it as long as Klopp is there and their owners are spending world record fees on transfers. Arsenal won’t open the purse strings, United just cannot recruit properly, Abramovich has lost interest in Chelsea and Spurs are paying for the stadium. Liverpool and City are in an arms race against each other just paying top dollar for Europe’s sought after players and yet pundits seem surprised that these two are so far ahead of everyone else. They both just have blank cheque books. The best we can hope for is that Klopp makes some errors trying to replace players that might move into the Spanish giants and that they don’t challenge one year and he gets fed up and leaves a new manager with a poorer squad. His recruitment of first team players has been brilliant though (although it’s not hard when you can chuck world record fees at any player you want)

I sense you are right. Arsenal are longer term build. United look a mess to me, this Solskiaar appointment will prove a disaster. Spurs will do ok but have huge cost to repay on the stadium. Chelsea look insecure to me but will always be a threat. City are miles ahead of them though, it's just that this season they've missed most of their key players for large chunks of the season.

Liverpool are their main competitors though and are outspending everyone to get there. We have to hope that they don't win the league in that time, and the spending eventually causes (another) Leeds scenario which is allowed to play out this time without high level interference. They were a few days away from admin and relegation last time.

Remember his Dortmund meltdown? That's the best we can hope for. Pray to all the gods new and old.

The league twigged onto his football and he ran them into the ground. Here’s hoping. Tbh if they don’t win the league this year I can’t see them doing it next year if Guardiola is at City because they’ll never have a run like this again. They’ll continue to be a nuisance in the CL though due to their brand of football and knack for getting easy draws.

Whoever their DoF is has to be right up there as one of the best if not the best in football right now.

Robertson Matip and Gomez cost peanuts and their front 3 cost less than £90 million.

Fabinho looks class when i've seen him and they plugged the weaker positions at CB and GK.

Ridiculous recruitment i begrudglingly have to admit.

How are you defining proven? There are a few on here that will never be proven but clearly are tbf
When we’re satisfied through email, IP address and social media matches.

Might take some longer than others but once we’re certain.

Spurs massive injury list, tired from CL and unable to rotate as much as City.
City after revenge and can bring in Fernandinho, Sane, Jesus, Stones, etc. Can only be a City win.

United vs City. United after top four, but City only got the title on their minds now. Hopefully United can pick up a few knocks against us and City can shuffle their pack again knowing, as long as they beat Spurs, this is the game that should win the title for them.

Liverpool. Two games against Barca and they'll likely have a chance still in the second leg. Newcastle the crucial PL game in the middle. I expect them to win, but it's two additional games which they are expected to go out in at the end of it.

Come on Cidy.

Plugged? They went out and paid world record fees for two of the best players in their position. That’s chequebook management not shrewd recruitment.

Tbh I think the credit probably lies with Klopp rather than the DOF. I think some of their players would look average (and have done) in another tactical set up but the brand of sit deep kick and rush Klopp plays suits everyone. In a true possession based system like City or Arsenal play then Henderson Milner would be round out for lack of guile on the ball, Firmino wouldn’t be the 20 goal a season striker you need and Mane would probably be a decent goal scoring winger like he was at Southampton. As it is though they don’t have to play a way that exposes their weaknesses and can all focus on chasing the opposition and getting onto knock downs, set pieces and forcing penalties. It’s good management. It often falls down against the very best possession based teams but when perfected it sees off most disorganised opposition if they try and play football against it.

This, they have 2 days after the Barca game at Newcastle. They have to rotate which can cost them

They can be out of both competitions within 2 days

It went yikes a long time ago. This should be about ripping the enemy, hoping they lose and revelling in their defeats. It should be about highlighting their fans indiscretions and pointing out how they went wrong.

What it shouldn't be is about is conspiracy theories, promoting hatred, lying about things that didn't happen or above else calling Liverpool fans paedophiles.

What it shouldn't be about is peer pressure that prevents decent Blues calling out the people who purport the nonsense for fear of being branded a Liverpool supporter.

What I have have had to do is bite my tongue because apparently calling out Wayno the proven liar and Davek the crank means you are a RS. It is like a nutter competition on here at times. A bizarre game of one one-upmanship in which we post conspiracy theories and ever more extreme lies that never get challenged because to do so will result in being branded a Liverpool supporter.

I have supported Everton all my life but do you know what I would rather be branded a Liverpool supporter than put up with the lies of Wayno or the pure hatred of Davek.

When does it become acceptable to hate people you have never known because they support another team. When has it become acceptable to brand another teams supporters a cult. When has it become acceptable to use the likes of Manson or West as a cheap jibe at supporters of other teams.

When did we sink so low. Why can't we accept that Liverpool are a decent team. Why do we have to come out with absolute rubbish about them having the FA, UEFA, the Police, the referees, VAR, the Tory government and even the Devil onside to thank for their victories.

It is so depressing.
Well, If that's the case, surely the rational answer is "then don't". You really need to accept the tenor of this thread...most clubs have one of similar ilk - have you never heard of RAWK's "Lets All laugh at Everton" one. There we had to endure them making unsubstantiated claims that Evertonians made horrible gestures at derby games and defiled the Hillsborough Memorial....after all the "He Aint Heavy, Hes my Brother" wonderful tributes of this club and its supporters. Noone bothered their arse to refute the claims there ….so whats that analogy about "good men saying nothing" ? Speaking as someone coping with serious health problems, I come on here to have a bloody good laugh and lighten up and even, heaven forbid, rationalise... not to endure hand ringing, maudlin, amateur dramatics-type knuckle-rapping. Believe me, theres worse things, you know, than being called a cult.

Peter Ridsdale mortgaged Leeds to the eyeballs with a loan that was almost triple their turnover in 2000, Leeds are a local club and a non entity outside England, when they missed CL football in 2001, by summer summer 2002 they had a firesale and sold all their best players.

You spent money you didn’t have trying to chase the league title and a new ground and then couldn’t service the debt. If you hadnt have bottled the CL in 07 and the league in 09 then you should have handed them back seeing as you essentially cheated the field. Fortunately the establishment which you bizarrely pretend to hate (even though you have worked harder than any other club to permeate every level of it) bent over backwards to throw out the rule book and save you from the fate you deserved. So you got a brand new do over and another bite at the cherry with Comolli (which you cocked up as well). Let’s hope for your sake Klopp doesn’t mess this one up.

I am aware of what happened with Leeds mate, and also what happened with Liverpool under H + G. Leeds went into admin, Liverpool effectively did as well.
