ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

Whenever anyone mentions the ten point gap then suddenly City’s game in hand is the most important thing ever ‘yeah lad but it was only 7 because of the game in hand’. Yet when Liverpool won every weekend to ‘scream back to the top of the league’ then the game in hand is never ever mentioned. The truth is Liverpool have dropped 8 points on City since this graphic and and have been a point behind City every week since the Goodison derby.
That bit about Goodison is fantastic!!

I remember it well, Dec 27th RS 5-1 Arsenal. Went my wife's cousins 50th he and all his kopite mates got up on stage singing songs about conquering this and that it was embarrassing, he'll be thinking about that come the end of the season, especially when he see's me and I say [Poor language removed] all.:drunk:
I was walking around town at the time and remember thinking for the first time that them winning the title was a real possibility.

Still 3 huge games for both teams left. End of season fixtures do weird things to teams. Remember Liverpool in 13/14 were in a far better position with 3 games left than City are now so it’s not over. Burnley will be difficult as they will be pressure free and City are racking up injuries. I’m hoping City have no option but to start with Sane and Sterling and blow Burnley away quickly.

Love the way you have us as the Good teams... Is right bro.

Well we were 7th before last night and we are easily the 7th best imo... We just don't bloody prove it. But irrespective of that, it's a Derby game, so it's one of their biggest away wins. Champions show that they're the best by going to the best teams and winning. City have come here, arsenal, spurs and united in the Derby and won. Would have won at anfield too if it wasn't for Mahrez.

RS haven't been good enough to win, they've only beaten a host of teams through helping hands.

Season definitely isn't over.

If they don't win the league, having only lost 1 game, it's absolutely mental. Whilst everyone has enjoyed a good title race, just says to me that the league is getting less and less competitive. I know you can make an argument that it used to happen in the 90's with Southampton, Coventry for example, but now it's seeing more times try to survive than compete. Your likes of Huddersfield don't care about trying take survival every year for the money.

Liverpool might not win the league, and they may end up 97 points? Unbelievable.

I can't bring myself to celebrate properly just yet. They're the luckiest club in football and Man City have dropped points against crap already this season.

I will enjoy today though. They're deflated. They can't act as though they're Champions elect as they have done for months this morning.

Esk currently getting pulled apart on Twitter for this tweet. I mean whilst I understand the underlying sentiment somewhat it's probably a bit poorly worded and definitely poorly timed...

Despite all our money, the top 2 are spending our record transfer fee on substitutes.

Look at Mendy, stones, sane, Mahrez, oxlade-chamberlain, Fabinho, keita etc. Yeah OK, maybe not all we're bought as subs, but they're playing rotation roles at best, whereas we spent that money on our two top scorers.

Pickford's mistake threw us back 3 months there. I was scratching my head this morning having seen Chelsea, Arsenal and United capitulations, and then i remember we lost to Fulham

Yeah, there is a gap widening in the last could of years and its now in 3 stages. Anyone outside the top 9 now is just trying to get to 40 points and it's turning terribly dull. We get about 6 or 7 home games out of 19 every season where teams come to Goodison to play for a point.

Teams like Bournemouth have shown you can have lower league players, but have a go and you can stay up, and do it for a few years without a problem. Swansea did the same and only got relegated when they started to get asset stripped.

Ha, yeah, it was always too be expected though, have another summer like last summer and I don't believe we'll be as inconsistent. We've come through that tough patch to have a good end and give us some hope for next season... Only a glimmer like, but we've competely outplayed arsenal and united in the way you'd expect us to do to a bottom 3 team.

Bettered City and barca's results v United ha

It's the last "big" test. IIRC you mentioned last night that after Burnley City have a lot of time to rest up for the last two. I doubt Guardiola will have failed to hammer that home to City's players. I get the impression that Fernandinho might miss the Sunday game but if not serious they'll get him on the pitch for the last two come what may. Gundogan is a good player to come in though. I wouldn't rule out KDB making Sunday too. It's so close to the season's end with no major international tournament in the summer that I'm sure the chance will be taken.
