ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

Klopp slowly sidelining the British core of Rodgers Liverpool side. Milner Henderson Ings Lallana clearly no longer trusted as first team players. Not one of the kids has been given even a sniff apart from Alexander Arnold (although apparently it’s Mourinho who doesn’t like youngsters - except for McTominay and Lingard...)
Wouldn't be surprised if llalana was sold after his bottle job, remember him acting the hard case when playing against kids the little fanny

Nice reward for that midfield, binning them all in the next window. Then again it was a national embarrassment watching them even share a pitch with Modric Kroos and Isco so fair enough.
Exactly why they are being proactive and ripping the midfield apart, those 3 were out classed from the 30 minute mark onward in the CL final.

Now they have a classic DM in Fabinho,A box to box midfielder in Keita and pure #10 in Fekir.

All 3 have a different skill set and it's as balanced as you can get.

What did we buy for our midfield last season,Rooney who's best years had long gone,Klassen who i haven't got a clue what his skill set is as he's not quick and doesn't dribble or get between the lines, and Iceland who's main quality is set plays.

They seems to be a process with their buying, they have spent big but they have been patient assembling it probably through a season of analytical scouting on targets which is their way of recruitment,we spent our money last summer like a kid in a sweet shop going hyper on a sugar buzz.

It's a pity Brands doesn't have that transfer kitty from last season, now he has to make do with having no money and having to sell 12 pieces of deadwood to raise funds.

I would agree with you if Chamberlain wasn't injured but he'll be coming back in January and we will need good back-up for the number '8' roles for the first half of the season.

Fabinho
Henderson
Keita

Keita Fekir
Milner Wijnaldum
Lallana Fabinho

Need to make sure there are two alternatives in waiting. Once Chamberlain is back, he'll very likely be let go.

You got to the CL final by an inordinate amount of good fortune with your draw and a slew of ridiculous decisions against Citeh.

It was nothing to do with the yellow toothed bell.

That's not right at all.

If the City game ended up a 1 or two goal win then yes you could say we got away with the ref decisions, but we beat them 5-1 on agg and when the scoreline is that large, it's hard to say it came down to the refs.

Truth is we're a horrible match-up for them.

I’m always impressed by your in-depth analysis of the RS ..... and the fact you can’t remember the name of our most expensive midfielder last season :coffee:. I think people may vaguely respect you if you just came out with “we” and “your” as appropriate, then again maybe not.

I think in the truly big games it's your weaker players that decide who wins, I remember the cup final in 09, we had some genuinely top players even with Arteta out who could mix it with chelsea, but chelsea had no one anywhere near as bad as hibbert, osman and neville which is for me what ultimately decided the game. It was the same for you lot, real had no one as bad as milner, henderson or lallana, and that becomes the deciding factors, the good players don't really let you down and moments of magic aside often in someways cancel each other out on opposing sides, the weaker players you see those big margins of difference.

As you say back up will be needed, but out of all them lallana really hid in that match. the others for their limitations at least didn't stop, lallana might also fetch a decent price, though I will give klopp credit for his patience in the transfer market, when he didn't get keita and vvd straight away last summer, he was willing to wait and keep his powder dry rather than spend for the sake of it on second choice buys, will be interesting to see how he operates without buvac though

Well yes you can. If the two disallowed goals are allowed then it's 5-3. If your two disallowed goals are chalked off then it's 3-3. Then Citeh should've had a couple of penalties.....

That second goal at Eastlands is correctly allowed then Citeh would've gone on to win comfortably, not even much debate really.

Do you think Liverpool should be worried by Falcao and Depay scoring more goals than Fekir?
Do you think Liverpool fans should be worried that Lookman looked twice the player that Keita looked?
Do you think Liverpool fans should be worried about Fabinho's continued omission from the Brazil squad and the fact that no big clubs were in for him?

Ah come on this just sounds very blinkered. Everyone can have their personal opinon but nowadays we have stats to cut out some of the nonsense.

All the advanced stats and metrics have these three at practically a world class level.

Depay is a quality attacker btw and someone you lot should be looking at. Just like Salah, he would blow this league apart given a second shot. Falcao was too old when he came here. Fekir has all the tools to take this league by storm. I envisage he'll become as big as Salah next season

Fabinho is behind two world class DM's in Casemiro and Fernandinho. Alex Sandro is one of the best LB's in Europe and missed out himself.

@davek Klopp is that special manager though. At Dortmund he has history of performing above par and he's doing the same again with ourselves.

He's just got us into a CL final with a midfield consisting of Henderson, Wijnaldum and Milner.

All we can keep doing is getting ourselves in a position to challenge for the two big trophies and you would think we'll get over the line eventually. Over the last five years we've had two close calls in 2014 and now 2018. And now with hopefully Fekir coming in we'll have a midfield which will have us set to have another go again. It's hard to imagine with our front six how we won't be competing for one of the two big titles in the next few seasons.
2013/14 - you lost by 4 points and an avalanche of GD. 2017/18 you were battered when faced with the first top class team you met.

Klopp hasn't got the tactical know-how to win big one off games - which he's underlining with every cup final he loses, and he hasn't got the flexibility you require to win a marathon like the PL.

Falcao and depay outscored Fekir That's just a fact. I think Balotelli was close. Three PL flops. Well mediocre at best. Martial hasn't set this league alight either. Bakayoko too....it's not looking promising. If i was a red then I'd be worried about spending so much on a player in that league. Especially with a net debt approaching £300m.

Lookman looked the superior player to Keita. Again that's just a fact. A small sample of games but no doubt who most coaches would want if those games alone were taken into account. He found the German league too much for him at times and had a fairly worrying disciplinary record, one struggles to see how that'll be improved when he moves here. Again, it's a large outlay on an unproven hothead.

Fabinho, he looks like a French Carlton Palmer....again he's coming from the French league. It's a worry.

Especially as the defence needs to be replaced wholesale. VVD is a donkey with no footballing brain, Robertson surprised everyone by not being awful but he's still an average player, Lovren lol, Karius lol lol lol lol lol , Arnold is another who is quite uninspiring despite the hype.

Matip isn't bad.

The point is we were in contention till May for both. That's all you can try to do as a club and i do feel we've now got a team to compete again for the next few seasons.

Klopp hit 76 points with a mish mash centre midfield. Now with the addition of 3 elite CM's, we could easily improve by a further say 10 - 15 points for a close fought race with City. So im not sure i agree with the thinking he can't operate a league campaign successfully.

Getting us to reach 76 points whilst navigating a gruelling CL run shows his ability in the league. Now with the midfield upgraded our points total should improve by quite a bit next season

Setting himself for a very expensive season, anything less than the league and he will be out. £100m already spent on two player.
