ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

Indeed. It´s all about getting over the obstacle of that first 20 minutes. If whoever is in the final can navigate that then it´ll be a massive shock for Liverpool. Especially their supporters who are planning the victory parade already.
Great post.

Regretting my comment yesterday when my RS buddy hoped Brighton turn into Barca on Sunday.
I uttered you should be wishing Barca turn into Brighton tonight.
Coming to terms with things now but smarting because we all knew Messi and co would score at the very least.

30 years. I'm just saying that cause it's works for them. I dint care who laughs at me anymore. I laughed at the reds who said they've a chance.

Oh lord I hope you're right. I'll be praying to those Holy saints Alan Ball and Howard Kendall for a bit of Divine Retribution. Other than that it's a case of #InDavewetrust

As for Brighton, I hope Shane Duffy remembers his Evertonian roots when it's most needed.
Big day out in a one off game for an important cup competition. It could go either way. Tbh, I'm not getting stressed about it. I just want to see City deny Liverpool the one trophy they are desperate to win. If that happens then I heave a huge sigh of relief. Liverpool are then right under the cosh as favourites to deliver on a cup to make the season worth the hype.

How long have you been supporting us mate. I would love to agree with you and build your hopes up with all the reasons we should but when you've been a blue for as long as I have, the disappointments just keep coming thick and fast. I too lived in that little fantasy world for a bit when I was young but when they beat us in the fa cup semi in 1971 followed by their total dominance in the 70,s and early 80,s I resigned myself to heartache where football is concerned. Then we had those glory days in the mid 80,s that all came crashing down, partly down to, yes you've guessed it, our lovable neighbours. But did they get punished by the footballing gods, no they absolutely did not. Whereas we on the other hand have been consigned to getting our glorification from seeing them loose, which unfortunately doesn't happen very often. Bitter, me??? You'd better believe it, although to most of my mates who are RS I bimble my way through my footballing life pretending I'm not bothered, but inside its a nightmare. SIGH!!!!!

But sometimes “hope” is all we have, Sharpie.

And I for one am filled with it for next season on foot of our very encouraging renaissance since we stymied the RS march to EPL glory in the derby.

My view is that but for the prolonged hangover after Pickford, we would have been up there in the EL placings battle with United and Arsenal.

No reason we cannot challenge and surpass those two next season.

Chelsea ain’t all that good....they look like losing Hazard and are facing a transfer embargo.

Well vulnerable come the new season.

So yes, given another window like last summer I see no reason at all to dismiss our chances of making a sustained challenge for a CL place.

Onwards and upwards :)

Spent a short while today casually muting various accounts and unfollowing several (previously innocuous) twitter feeds.

You will never see bandwagon jumping of this magnitude for any other team. For that reason I operate a simple, if draconian, "one strike and you're out" policy. I thoroughly recommend judicious usage of Facebook's "snooze for 30 days" option.

Following this game of glory-hunting-casual-kopite whack-a-mole I'm now having quite a pleasant morning, and my social media/news feeds are pure as mountain dew. To mix the metaphor, if you have a stone in your shoe, don't hobble around all day moaning about it. :)

Went to the game at Villareal a few weeks ago,so last night wasn't too much of a shock,Villareal put four past them too and only blew it late on after having a player sent off and giving away a stupid free kick.Barcelona's defense can't handle pace and pressure, they do so well here because too many teams go out scared of Messi.

I cannot believe someone on here called the CL a consolation prize, utterly bizarre.

The winners this year Will be earning £140 million from cash prize and tv money, on top of that new commercial partners throwing money at the winning club, and also growing a bigger lucrative fanbase.

It's the biggest club trophy on the planet by far.

Look at the How badly Abramovich wanted that trophy, and look at the 2 state run plastic teams, City are paying Guardiola £18 million a year for him to win them that trophy, The Qatar Royal family are selling PSG because of the failure of their investment, the Emir of Qatar wants that trophy so badly that he's willing to sell up and buy Roma and go again to try and win it.

Juve didn't sign Ronaldo to sell shirts, they crave that trophy more than anything, same with Bayern who sacked managers who flop in the competition, Madrid winning in those 7 CL's between 1998-2018 gave up the leagues to concentrate on winning the CL.

And this was Messi at a kit unveiling to a packed Camp Nou this summer with an announcement.
