ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

Also this media BS about best season ever, best title race ever is utter nonsense. Where were the twist and turns? Both teams just won every week, it really wasn't exciting, exciting is one team losing then the other, momentum swings etc. This season was city blowing pretty much every team away and the RS' dull 8 man defence keeping clean sheets and relying on pure luck to scrape 1 goal wins.

Two teams were relegated early with only Brighton's horrific end of season form meaning the last spot went deep into the season.

The top 4 battle lacked a hell of a lot of quality and the overall quality from most was poor imo.

The prem could still be around in 100 years and the city v united title chase will never be beaten.

Spot on.

This title race was a bore......no twists, no turns.

There was more drama in those two CL games last week than in the closing three months of “greatest title race ever”.

Tbh I don’t believe in such theories. It always looks like that when a team wins as I remember very well how rival teams use to taunt (Howard Web)us whenever we won the league. There’s no conspiracy here and I don’t think luck lasts entire season in league and CL. I am not that daft to disapprove that they were brilliant this season. If they win CL, expect couple of more big signings and given their recent track record, those will be successful signings. I don’t see any positive here tbh, yes they didn’t win it but they sure did enjoy the season more than us.

lol

Jeez I'm not sure that the Champions League is a "consolation prize" at best.

They have never entered it as Champions, but it's the biggest prize in European, and by extension, global, club football.

I'm overjoyed that they have lost out on the league but I'll hate it if they win the UCL.

I think 99% of them would chose the PL title first, but they'll be unbearable if they win it all the same.

COYS.

imagine the fume if spurs win it, they think because they battered barca they have already won it, think it might be their downfall

few of my kopite mates said to me winning the UCL against spurs doesn't feel the same as winning it against some top European club, whilst I sort of get what they mean they are expecting to steam roll spurs

ahh Im gonna make all my mates cry again like I did last year when bale scored

If you call it by its more accurate title there's considerable consolation.

"The Runners Up League" will be contested between 2 teams that last were champions 30 years ago and another that last were champions nearly 60 years ago.

It's not the European Cup, and to me will never vary the gravitas and glory of that firmer competition. I genuinely would rather win the league.

The 3 week wait until the final turns it into a lottery in my opinion. All of their momentum and form will be reset so it's anyone's game.
I actually think that Spurs have things to work towards in terms of getting people fit, and this could engender a sense of purpose and cohesion for them. The rs have just come off a major downer and have to sit on their hands. I'm sure both teams will be up for it, but I do hope that Spurs roll into Madrid as the more focused team.

It’s obviously still a huge trophy, but I think seeing Spurs ajax and a terrible Barcelona in the semi final line up has diminished it even for some kopites. No doubt they’ll bang on about it for years and years but there can’t really be a claim that it’s the top level of competition any more. Chumps like Porto and Roma are getting to the latter stages all the time based on great home records or having no domestic distractions whilst it’s becoming harder for title winners to ever make the final any more. You can lose up to 6 games, not have to win away from home, and draw the final and still end up with a trophy. Quite simply it’s not the same level of challenge as a 38 game test that the league provides.

If I was Uefa I’d be looking to reform it. There’s too much emphasis on home advantage and the away goal rule. Spurs beating Ajax and City on away goals seems ridiculous when you look at the balance of play over both legs of those games. A one off knockout at a neutral ground for the latter stages would spice things up.

I agree. hopefully it's the perfect storm.
