You suggested Gerrard was culpable for not controlling the players from being "gung-ho" & "kamikaze". I'm saying Liverpool played like that to get into the position they were in, so weren't going to change in either of the 2 games you cited.

So if the fans hadn't been "piling on the pressure", they'd have won?
...and how does that contradict what I said? No, you said Madrid were the cream of Europe and would give Liverpool a footballing lesson.
They'll never learn. Thank goodness.Maybe you might have beat Chelsea if you hadn’t have wound Mourinho up to the point where he was more interested in silencing your feral mob than winning a CL semi final. I literally don’t think he would have been bothered with that game had it been any other rival. Maybe their players wouldn’t have scrapped for everything if your fans hadn’t spent the night outside their Formby hotel keeping them up or ‘welcoming’ their coach. Maybe if your fans hadn’t have psyched your own players into a frenzy a few calm heads might have prevailed on the pitch knowing you only needed a draw against a team that had no interest in attacking. Maybe if you hadn’t have spent weeks telling everyone how you were going to win the league and printing tshirts about it the entire nation might not have rejoiced when you bottled it again.
@davek is right. No matter how many times you get slapped in the face by this lesson you will not learn. There you all were once again against the 12 times champions of Europe no less who had won the last 2 CLs in a row telling anyone who would listen that you were going to blow them away 4 or 5 nil like they were some sort of pub team. The unbelievable arrogance of your mouthpieces in the media making Liverpool favourites against Real Madrid because you thoughts the likes of Varane Marcelo and Ramos would struggle with a bit of kick and rush football. The exact same arrogance you displayed against Sevilla thinking you’d won the game before a ball was kicked.
Now here we are again before the first whistle of the new season has gone and already the Liverpool media and a good portion of your fan base have made you favourites for the title. Absolute weapons.

I mean Gareth Bale have you a footballing lesson on his own, let alone the rest of the team. No, you said Madrid were the cream of Europe and would give Liverpool a footballing lesson.
Tell davek, not me! He thinks Liverpool should have won but for fan pressure.they did unless i'm mistaken? Lesson being the teams with more quality generally come out on top
Again, tell davek who was convinced Liverpool would win, but for the fan pressure.Well unless the bookies have made a dramatic error in paying me out you didn’t win.
I remember when you didn’t celebrate winning league cups now only losing finals by a couple is a cause for Internet pontification.
Not sure Liverpool were defensively sound enough to do that, conceding 50 goals that season, the most out of the top 5. Liverpool were all about outscoring the opposition that season, hence scorelines like 5-3 & 6-3 during the term.Don't you think that was a bit stupid. Teams win the league for being adaptable to given situations. It was utterly ridiculous to go into that moment in the game saying 'Well, we played like that all season so why not now'. Once Palace got the 1st or maybe after the 2nd the situation dictated that the shop should have been shut up and/or you play keep ball for 20 minutes, you were after all the best footballing side that year so it would not be hard to think that the manager or captian would have the one brain cell needed to realise that this is what was needed.
In conclusion there was a collapse.
Tell davek, not me! He thinks Liverpool should have won but for fan pressure.
I really must commend you on the brilliant work you do in this thread. They'll never learn. Thank goodness.
30 years without the title and still calling themselves a big club.
Un'kinreal.
Not sure that's quite right as Chelsea were back in contention for the title once they won.Maybe you might have beat Chelsea if you hadn’t have wound Mourinho up to the point where he was more interested in silencing your feral mob than winning a CL semi final.
