ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

While they're busy pissing themselves over last night's result they conveniently overlook the fact that they managed to concede two goals on the two occasions they were under any sort of threat, at their tell tale "fortress".......
They're soft. They have no organisation. Did you see Henderson screaming at Gomes when he lost the ball?

All over the shop.

I think you give them too much credit. One major trophy in the last 30 years tells me that they dont have the type of organisational self-belief you attribute to them. This Liverpool squad are stronger than for a few years, that's true enough. But it's all about having real quality in every position x2 when you want to win the PL (you might fluke a CL with less like).

Liverpool haven't got that. They're not at a stage when a position like LB or RB are covered by equal quality off the bench. That's what the real super-powers will all have. While FSG are in control they will never have that...and they'll ALWAYS sell their best players in their prime. They cant build on that.

Think fsg have been great for them tbh. They're in it as a money making exercise obviously but they've given them heavy financial backing at every turn. No don't when results will go bad they'll get the blame instead of Klopp though.

This summer they backed Klopp for the first time. They made the club pay for "Big Stand" by not investing in players. They'll be looking to claw that summer spend back by moving a name out. Salah looks the likely one. It's what they do.

To be honest, I think it affects our fans and our match day atmosphere more than we’d like to admit. It’s made us jealous and impatient, we want to be at their level or at least showing signs of catching them up, however they’ve just took off and left us for dead since Klopp came in. Every stoppage time winner for them twists the knife a little bit deeper. Coupled with us being stuck in a seemingly endless state of nothingness every season, that frustration permeates the fanbase and continues to seep into the ground on a match day.

The easy solution is to not even think about them, don’t ever watch their games, don’t read articles about them, don’t even watch their coverage on Sky Sports News. It’s genuinely improved my life and my stress levels since I adopted this approach, however I understand it’s not something that everyone will be able to do.

As you mention yourself though, this difference in mentality has stemmed from Klopp coming in and actually giving them a reason to enjoy going the game. However this hasn’t happened over night. Whilst our home support isn’t exactly the best at times, what are they meant to do when results like this past weekend’s occur? Losing to bottom of the table at home and people wonder why our atmosphere can be slightly toxic at times... that’s nothing to do with our local rivals nor any other club in world football for that matter. That’s on our team and the failings of our club.

I guarantee for the majority of the last decade or at least up until Klopp joined the atmosphere across the park when they were regularly finishing outside the top 4 (not even top 6 sometimes) was probably very similar to ours. They’ve improved massively both on and off the pitch and surprise surprise the atmosphere has improved and the fans actually have reason to believe. That’s even after losing multiple finals. And whilst we can laugh at the fact there’s still no trophies in the cabinet, an honest critical viewpoint would have to say that doesn’t mean they aren’t progressing and in an enviable position. But if silva can actually build some momentum this year then there’s no reason we can’t have something to cheer about in the future. But that doesn’t start with the fans, it starts with the players and the staff.

You’re probaly right though that trying to ignore them for the most part or at least trying to objectively look at them as just another club is a better strategy. They’re two games in to this supposed fixture run of death which will “find them out” and they’ve won both games so far and that seems to wind some people up no end to the point where both PSG and Spurs are reduced to no marks in order to make ourselves feel better.. it’s just not worth it.

Salah's heads gone. They got out of jail last night when the racist scored in the last few minutes. Klopp's composure and mentality on the big occasion is suspect. Their defence looks ragged when asked a serious question.

They have a good start to the season but I've seen nothing so far that indicates a qualitative change over there. Their probable qualification from that group is welcome. They'll be asked to show themselves week in week out in the new year. It's too much for them. One major trophy in 29 years is set to become one major trophy in 30 years.

While they're busy pissing themselves over last night's result they conveniently overlook the fact that they managed to concede two goals on the two occasions they were under any sort of threat, at their tell tale "fortress". Just imagine what a side that actually attacks them but also has a competent defence would do to them!

Right all this is getting silly now!!

Just imagine what a side with a compidant defence would do to them - Tiago Silva, Kimpembe, Munier & Bernat with Marquinhos shielding???? How many teams will they face that have a better back line then that?

A side that actually attacks them? Mbappe, Cavani & Neymar not good enough for you?

Your talking about one of the top 5 teams in the world right there, yes there will be the likes of Real Madrid, Juventus, and Barca who are better than PSG but there aren't better. Its not as if they played Neil Warnocks Cardiff!

I hate them as much as anyone, i hate the way my weird RS mates message me about Spurs (what is that weird made up rivalry about), they have a horrible need of wanting to be loved, they all think Pochetino is over rated on the basis that he isnt Klopp, they hate Harry Kane because he had the gaul to claim a goal (that was his incidently) in a game that had nothing to do with them on the basis Kane was after the golden boot!

They did it with Chelsea through the Mourinho years because they were pretty good at the time, saying every lampard goal was a deflection and hated him because they had Stevie G.

i cant stand the horrible little things, but to come out and start thinking that conceding 2 goals agains PSG in a CL group game in a game the yactually won, is a worrying sign, the ones that are saying that are blatantly kidding themselves!

Lets just thank god and hope that City have a repeat of last year (not in the CL obviously)

And what did they win ?

Very true, they have that losing in the final hurdle problem to get over, and if they dont win anything again this year, i will be jumping right on the "you have had Klopp for 4 years and what exactly have you won" bandwagon!
But to say they are not within a chance of winning things is far fetched

I disagree. I think it underlines how mentally weak they are. Sure, they got the three points in the end when PSG failed to see the draw out. But 2-0 up had to be bettter protected than that.

They are going to be like Spurs in the CL this season: winning against some big teams but too flaky to make a dent in it.

Klopp funnily enough with all his BOOM's & Haha's and randomly laughing at absolutely nothing for no reason apart from he is mental, has been afforded that time.

I question wether our fans will as at the weekend were i was sat, alot of people dont even seem to like going the game any more, alot of people turn up only to see us lose so they can say "see i bloody told you so, look i was right wasent i" get rid!!!

We have a problem at the moment, were people are holding on to there season tickets for far to long, they are scared of losing there seat, they feel its an obligation that they have to go!

Were in reality, if your not enjoying it! Stop going! I renewed this season after missing the last 3, before that doing 21 years, because i stopped enjoying it! Some people would say that makes me a bad fan, but it re-invigorates you! And i tell you what, despite the arl ar@es moaning, ive enjoyed every game this season!

Ive driffted off from my original point though, Klopp had an easy ride from the fans and the media, i dont think Silva will be afforded the same luxury- although i hope he does

Lets hope they come up against atletico n the knock outs then! That is the type of team that could spoil them!
But to say a 3-2 win at home to 1 of the best teams in europe highlights any dificiancies, is slightly mental

We are miles behind and it hurts.

With FFP changing to a £89 million-100 million euros net spend agreed by the cabal of european giants meeting during the international break will Usmanov make a difference with those financial restrictions.

FFP 2.0 next summer, just our luck that we could get a sugar daddy who can't spend his dough.

How can you be behind yourself?

PSG have 2 star players (one of whom only plays for himself) the rest would not be a selection of Europe’s top players which is why they have gone no further than the CL quarters every year. That flaky Madrid team which was going to be blown away in Kiev sent out a second string midfield at the pace des princes last season and dismantled PSG. They are not in the upper echelon of Madrid Barcelona Bayern Juve whatever people say.

PSG for all their star talent were awful last night. The kopites deserved to win. When PSG went 2-2 there was about 10 minutes left and yet they let them cross the ball, look for the right pass giving them acres of space all over the pitch. Henderson & Milner two workhorses no more than that, were allowed to dominate their midfield cause the front 3 refused to defend. I'm not taking anything away from the kopites but they can't have many easier games than that. Arnold & Robertson are probably wondering what all the fuss is about all they had to do was work hard. On a brighter note...Salah looks a shadow from last year. His control and movement were more like Brett Angel's
